TH Spangler wrote: May 30th, 2020, 4:04 pm Either some here are stupid or just disingenuous. The tweet obviously points to the governors past racial sensitivity. The Lieutenant governor has a major Me Too issue.

You guys crack me up praising Doc all the time and then knocking junior for involvement in politics. Jr's doesn't come close to Doc's
This has nothing to do with govenor, as I've mentioned before. If I were in Virginia, I wouldn't even think about voting for him.

I am very familiar with Jerry Sr and remember how he was quick to apologize if he got carried away. I remember how many friends he had on the opposite side of aisle and how highly the staff spoke of him. Those are the things I remember and respected most about Sr. I miss him.

Jerry Jr doesn't apologize, in fact he almost always double downs. If you can't remove politics out of this conversation then I'm not sure we are talking about the same thing.
Apples and oranges. Doc was a "pastor" and chancellor. JR is a "christain lay person", lawyer and chancellor. I would be willing to bet my last dollar Doc would be very pleased with both his politics and his leadership.
I’ll take that bet. Sr had the people skills JR sorely lacks. It’s not that they are both involved in Conservative Politics but it is HOW they became involved. Sr had a way of making his enemies his friends (or at least respect him) but Junior has the opposite effect. He has away of making his friends his enemies and make it difficult to respect him

Doc had pastoral skills. But today the other side is different. They are left of left and wouldn't respect him either.

I don't think things are different. Politics have always been dirty and always will be. The difference today is there is no escaping it.

But again, this has zero to do with politics for me. It is about the leader of a Christian institution treating all people, even those he disagrees with, with respect. I feel there is a Bible verse or 2 that talks about how to treat one's enemy....nah, couldn't be, right?

I think what you're saying is Liberty needs a pastor chancellor. That's a valid opinion. I personally think it's nice to have one or two vocal consertived chancellors openly speaking out about the hipprocy on the left.

No. I'm not saying that at all. I'm saying that the leader of a Christian university should treat people with respect and how Jesus has instructed us to. It also should be understood that if you are leading a Christian institution it is going come with certain expectations. If he isn't wanting that then he should go back to practicing law and his business dealings and let someone else run the school.

I actually think that running the think tanks etc would be a perfect fit for him.

Maybe so. It seems to be where his passion is right now.

I want Liberty to keep its more conservative stances, especially on social and religious issues. I do fear with a new President Liberty letting outside influences in too much. The media wants badly to take Liberty down, so I do get why Jerry Falwell Jr. feels he has to run a tight ship.

The said, some of Falwell's comments and attitudes on twitter are simply unnecessary and not very Christian-like. He creates unnecessary drama for the school. He hurts the athletic and other programs. I want a President who is a spiritual leader first and political second. But it's not even about being political, it's how Jerry does not treat others with respect. It won't make me not support the school - I think Liberty has plenty of wonderful people there. It will make some others not support the school.

No one here seems to think the left burning down our cities is important enough to start a thread? By the way, peaceful second amendment rallies were criticized for not practicing social distancing. But they did cleaned up after theirs. Why has the media not call out these social justice rallies for not practicing social distancing, for not extinguishing the fires before they go home? More liberal media hipprocy :?:

If you would like you can start a thread on it.

This is specifically about Jerry Jr and dismissing it because there are more important things to discuss doesn't make this discussion any less valid.

Jr's tweet was thought provoking. Made me think about my last post. Exactly what he intended. Make people think.

You must have strange definition for “thought provoking”.

TH, stating that Jr makes you think does not shed a positive light on your intellect.

You said that some here were stupid or delusional- How about this for stupid: retweeting your own think tank's posting of your own commentary.

He's trying to wake up minorities that are being fooled by white liberals. The govonor is a fraud. You're to big a Jerry hater to think past it.

And it was stupid or disingenuous. And I don't think anyone here is stupid.

There’s a quote from the movie Rounders about suckers that would be appropriate here.

You are right. IMO their actions are being taken out of context and way overblown. I find it interesting more people are upset about the image than who is in the imagine. You see a lot of people defending Northam who don’t even realize he’s in the picture.
I like their food and hope they weather the storm. I’ll probably stop by there this week to pick some up

I'm indifferent about it. If I ran a business I'd stay out of the dirty world of politics but they are certainly free to do so.

It probably has more to do with the timing of it. To me it is just his attitude about it all the rubs me the wrong way.

It’s not hard to find on Twitter people posting pics/videos of the citizenry cleaning up their city the next day. But hey let’s not let facts get in the way of an agenda.
