I'd happily be burned for a season or two. This alum still loves the Gordons!

Having said that, I think this is a near lock for the Hoosiers, with Michigan having an outside chance.Well I would put Michigan and Indiana on about the same level in terms of his recruiting process. Jeff Meyer has a great relationship with Eric Sr.

I think it was during the process of considering a transfer that the idea of helping put Davidson on the basketball map came to be. I may have missed something, but, while their coach continues to be well respected, the program seems to have returned to relative obscurity since Curry moved on to the NBA.

In the unlikely event he were to come to LU, Eron would almost certainly finish his college career there. If you look at the 4 players preceding Eron in those 2 families, they fall into 3 categories.
kill this thread move on to a better topic.
The Gordon's, The Curry's get over them.

Interested? No, no hard evidence at this point, but if WE haven't shown the interest in HIM to offer him a scholarship, why should he be. We have had people on here say we should have recruited certain players just because they were from Virginia when they were not only not interested, but would have been a horrible fit at LU. Here is a terrific talent who comes from a solid christian home and has a dad and a brother who played for LU. IMHO this is a no brainer. Regardless of how slim we feel our chances may be we need to offer him and show him we want him at Liberty.

In fairness however, I think it should be said that there has been a 50% turnover of staff in the last 2 years. It would appear, based on their backgrounds, that the 2 newest assistants, Walden and Mance, were hired largely for their recruiting prowess. This recruiting class is the first with the current staff. Obviously, we have already taken a hit with a non-qualifier and a defector, but it still has the potential to be really good.

olldflame wrote:I just don't think we can judge the current staff by the shortcomings of their predecessors. If this class turns out to be a flop, I think we can say we still aren't getting it done on the recruiting end. With recruits you are always talking about "potential" until they show what they can (or can't) do at this level.Your last 2 paragraphs discount your first paragraph.
I would not say we "lost" Allen. While it wasn't public knowledge, our staff obviously knew he had not qualified, but took a calculated risk that he would pull something off because he has upside due to his athleticism (even though his game is actually pretty limited). He didn't. If he had, he would be at LU now. Kid had a panorama of the Vines at the top of his twitter til the day he announced he was signing at Tallahassee CC. Looks more and more like we are going to hold onto that scholarship for next year.
Bonds is another matter. Did we do everything we could once he signed to keep him excited about Liberty? Hard to know. By NCAA rules our coaches had little to no involvement in his workouts with his teammates when he came for summer school, so I'm not sure what they could have done at that point. I'm beginning to suspect more and more that Braxton may have actually decided to leave before he arrived, possibly when he became aware (or was made aware) that UT didn't have a scholarship PG on their roster.
