LU 86 – NMSU 75.
That’s eight straight wins for LU. And I already know what the postgame conversation is gonna be. Rebounding. Three-point attempts. No interior presence. Too many threes. You can set your watch to it. Yes, Zac playing the 5 works. It’s been working all season. HCRM adjusts how LU guys are used, and suddenly the same armchair coaches will be say Man, these kids have really improved. LOL. HCRM is coaching his team. HCRM don't let OUTSIDERS in to influence team needs or how they play. Go ahead name the court after him.

Now to the players.
Zac at the 5 spaces the floor and opens driving lanes for our two sub-6’ guards and that other 6’3” listed guard with the hair. They get downhill, good things happen. Funny how that works. JJ the guy who does the dirty work and can get some buckets too. Did any Armchair coaches listen to Wades press conference after the LU beat down? JS man how good is he getting! Per this Armchair coach this dude is the MVP for the rest of the season. Last but surely not lest is Carter the guy who HCRM said in his great presser yesterday he is trusting more and more.

Also notice how the offense takes what the defense gives. Any of the six main guys can score, but sometimes they do this wild thing called passing the ball. It’s not being a ball hog — it’s sharing. You probably learned that back when you were a little armchair coach… unless you skipped that day.

This is exactly the type of roster HCRM wants: guys who can play, think, serve one another, great kids, and trust each other.
And yeah, that’s also why he keeps his rosters together.

But sure — let’s ignore eight straight wins and panic about rebounds and no interior presence on offense.

LU Armchair coach#1 says they will be something very helpful to happen to this team in the next 4 weeks!!!

Eight straight wins. Are the LU folks still hovering over the panic button like the smoke alarm just went off? Same song every night — rebounds, too many threes, no true big. You could set a rooster clock by it.

Meanwhile, Liberty just handled NMSU 73–71 doing exactly what this team was built to do: play smart, space the floor, and mind their business. (And yeah… maybe keep an eye on that first-half money 👀) this my Armchair colleagues might've caused me to miss my 11-pts prediction.

Let’s deal in facts, not feelings.
Liberty shot 54% from the floor and just under 47% from three. That’s not luck. That’s not a heater. That’s execution.
30 points in the paint.
16 assists on 26 made shots.

That’s called taking what the defense gives you — not jacking threes just to hear the net snap.

Now let’s talk about those scary rebound numbers everyone loves to clutch pearls over.
Yes, NMSU had 32 rebounds.
Yes, Liberty had 27.
And Liberty still won. Imagine that.

Here is the Why?

• Took care of the ball (6 turnovers) 3 in the first few minutes of the 2nd half causing this run may want to investigate
• Shot it efficiently
• Shared it
• Made plays when it mattered

Those are trade-offs. And HCRM understands them a whole lot better than anyone yelling at their TV with a plate of leftovers balanced on their lap.

This is the roster he wants — smart kids, versatile, unselfish, tough-minded, and completely unbothered by outside noise. That’s also why rosters stick together around here. Continuity beats chaos every single time.

And if the armchair coaches noticed, even Coach Hooten started tweaking NMSU’s approach, trying to match Liberty instead of just leaning on a big body.

So sure, let’s ignore eight straight wins and keep arguing about interior presence.

Meanwhile, HCRM will keep coaching, these guys will keep getting better, and Liberty will keep stacking W’s.

I’ve been enjoying this winning thing we’ve been doing lately. As McKay said in a recent interview, there’s a lot of things we’re not the best at but we’re leaning into our strengths and it’s working. I’ll take the wins however we can get them.

Odd thing is, suddenly one of our strengths is free throw shooting. That's what won this game for us.
