bigsmooth wrote:manson, ECU is huge step up from temple. ECU is the two-time C-USA Champ. Temple is no comparison to ECU. Temple's fanbase is awful, they play in an empty lincoln financial field, and have horrible practice facilities, whereas ECU has an awesome fanbase, the people down east love some ECU football, they are expanding their stadium, have nice practice facilities and they play on tv a lot more, not to mention Golden knows holland pretty well. it is a good fit IMO. i hope he gets it.I think this is the main thing. Even if it's a better job, it's not a step up in conference. CUSA is pretty weak, maybe better than the MAC but not really very good. If you're at Temple with a lot of success, you're looking to move to a place like BC, or UConn, or UVa, low level BCS. Do you think Danny Rocco would take the HC job at Eastern Kentucky? It's a pretty similar situation to this. Just not enough of a jump to uproot what you're started at the school you're at.

If Coach Rocco were to leave it would be a greater testament to the program to CONTINUE to do as well as we have. If he doesnt leave he has a chance to make a mark that I dont think any other coach has made on this program.BJ, Danny Rocco getting a job at ECU would be good for Danny Rocco, but completely hit or miss for LU. We could hire the next Vince Lombardi or the next Kenny Karcher. I'd rather stick with the known quantity of the awesomeness of Danny Rocco. Look at what happened to WU when Marshall left. Now they're left trying to convince themselves that Peele isn't a trainwreck. I'm not sitting here in the corner hyperventilating at the thought of ECU taking our coach, but it's "not good" for us that they may take him.

Virginia Tech defensive coordinator Bud Foster has been an assistant coach for 29 seasons, and if he truly aspires to wear the big whistle, East Carolina is an ideal opportunity.
