I am withdrawing my name from the sideline gig that I petitioned for earlier....My delicate ego could not take the flamefans.com bashing that is happening on here 8)  In fact, no one is allowed to watch the hoops games and offer any criticisms of the on air talent  :P

Sly Fox wrote: Knucklehead - I think if you look back at my posts you'll see I have gone to great pains to focus on his play by play work for FTN. I only see him sporadically when I am in Lynchburg on WSET. As I mentioned, I neither know the man nor am I familiar with his on air product on a daily basis.

I think we are at a stalemate, knucklehead. I respect your opinion toward Dennis and I apologize for coming across in such a negative fashion. I stand by my comments, but perhaps I should've kept them more to myself. I'm not in the habit of offending folks.

Did I mention that we would have all fo our home games televised this fall?

I'm new here, but strangely I think I'm being told (in code) that I have to drop the subject.
Anyway, here in the 'burg we love DC. I mean I feel like Lib and I now have the plague for supporting DC.
I mean we weren't supporting Katie Curic Here!
It just seems weird to have to defend a legend. It seems a bit like when I had to defend Tony Gwynn for the Hall of Fame to a few crazies. OK maybe that's a bit over the top, but then again ask any former high-school athlete from the area who the best is.

You can always try to convince 'Chuck' Gibson to switch from news to sports and come back to his old stomping grounds:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Gibson
Born in Evanston, Illinois, Gibson moved to Washington, D.C., when he was 12. He attended the prestigious Sidwell Friends School, a private college-preparatory school in the city. Gibson graduated from Princeton University where he was news director for the university radio station, WPRB-FM and a member of Princeton Tower Club. He now serves on Princeton's Board of Trustees. Originally, Gibson planned to go into law, but reconsidered when he determined his grades were not sufficient for top tier law schools. Gibson joined the RKO Radio Network in 1966 as a producer, but then switched gears and joined the Coast Guard and worked as a reporter/anchor for WLVA (now WSET) in Lynchburg, Virginia as one of five employees. He then moved to WMAL-TV (now WJLA) in 1970, and took a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Humanities in 1973 before joining ABC in 1975.

Sly does not live in the burg, so he doesn't see DC on a daily basis, as he stated. He, as have others, just got the impression that DC didn't care about LU sports, but was just doing telecasts to get a paycheck. That may not be true, but that's the way some perceived it.

Opinions are fine. I didn't like the comments about DC of all people not caring about LU. Ridiculous!

Worked with him on a live GMA in Lexington once, and I will concur. His ego and rude attitude were only eclipsed the time I met Ted Koppel. Talk about a tool. Every time we took a Comm. Break he had something to gripe about.

Maybe we should have him join FF - sounds like he'd fit right in

I figured as much but most people won't post that info that they find out on here. Like they'll get in trouble or something.

Really hoping the games will be webcast here as well. I'll be out of the country the better part of September, and I not only want to see the games, but get a picture to post with my ff.com T-shirt in front of the computer with the game on. I'll try to set up the shot so the tropical setting is apparent. :D
