Knucklehead - I think if you look back at my posts you'll see I have gone to great pains to focus on his play by play work for FTN. I only see him sporadically when I am in Lynchburg on WSET. As I mentioned, I neither know the man nor am I familiar with his on air product on a daily basis.

And as a sports director in a medium market, he's adequate. Although I admit his 'casts come across as rather lazy when I catch them. But if I had been in a medium market station for a quarter century I would probably be coasting as well.

Anyway, here in the 'burg we love DC. I mean I feel like Lib and I now have the plague for supporting DC.

It just seems weird to have to defend a legend. It seems a bit like when I had to defend Tony Gwynn for the Hall of Fame to a few crazies. OK maybe that's a bit over the top, but then again ask any former high-school athlete from the area who the best is.

Sly does not live in the burg, so he doesn't see DC on a daily basis, as he stated. He, as have others, just got the impression that DC didn't care about LU sports, but was just doing telecasts to get a paycheck. That may not be true, but that's the way some perceived it.

Worked with him on a live GMA in Lexington once, and I will concur. His ego and rude attitude were only eclipsed the time I met Ted Koppel. Talk about a tool. Every time we took a Comm. Break he had something to gripe about.
