Is this Sumner guy transferring from another Division 1 program or is he just out of high school. Any details would be appreciated.

I understand that he is from a 3A Jacksonville HS. Miami looked at him, but he did not like it there. He should report in the fall, no summer for Summer.

This kid is a great get for Liberty. Coach Skalaski strikes again in the state of Florida. Summer's official visits were Louisville, Miami and Tulsa. Committed to Louisville but with the staff change something happened, he said-she said. He is a 6'4" /6'5" wide receiver who was first team all state in BB at Ribault HS in Jacksonville. Ribault is a BB powerhouse playing in the last three final fours in their class. This is a steal. I live down here, this kid is highly regarded.

When Chris was recruited by UL and accepted the offer until coaching changes

Summers earned All-Conference honors following a senior season that saw him pull in 41 receptions for 663 yards and 8 touchdowns.

An All-State performer on the hardwood, Summers told the Times-Union that he'll attempt to play both sports at U of L.

"I went up there last weekend and had a great time," Summers said. "I've been liking Louisville since they saw me in spring practice, so I decided to go on and commit. [A Louisville] coach said I could try to do both sports, but that it's really hard to keep up with. But I'm going to give both a try at first."

I may have been overly critical of our guys, but I've been whining for a year now about needing more depth at WR.

at least someone who will play hard consistently along with improved talent.

and you know how I feel about TE

If he was planning to play both sports at Louisville, I don't see why not here.

If he played both sports for us, his scholarship would only count against the football limit.

Which would work out perfect for RMc because he is at his limit now. It would be Rocco's call, and he hasn't said no to the possibility of Redd playing hoops, which has been out there for a while. Of course, Vince will have used up his football elegibility at the end of this season and can pretty much do what he wants. The one thing that could be of concern is that 2 sports is a lot of time away from class. I wonder what kind of student Summers is.

You and me both BJ.

Is he good enough to play this year, or likely to redshirt? I guess we might not find that out until September.

well if he signed with a big east school, he should be ready to play in the big south.

from the roanoke fishwrap. the bud davis thing is a bit dicey IMO. he was kicked out of UVA for theft and spent some time in jail. i would welcome greenbaum. he is a decent kicker...better than what we have.
Cavalier connection

If new NCAA transfer guidelines permit, recent Virginia graduates Ryan Best and Noah Greenbaum will spend the upcoming football season at Liberty. Wide receiver Bud Davis also could join a parade of ex-Cavaliers that includes three players already on campus in Lynchburg: offensive tackle Eddie Pinigis, offensive guard Marshal Ausberry and defensive end Vince Redd. All joined the UVa program while second-year Liberty head coach Danny Rocco was a Cavalier assistant.

Big Smooth with breaking news before even Chris Lang can even give us the scoop! Thanks, Smoothy.

Greenbaum would be a great addition for us. He would help us in our weakest area, and biggest area needed for improvement. Best would give us much needed depth in the secondary. If Davis agreed to live by the Liberty Way, I would welcome him. We did the same with Redd and he has done a remarkable job thus far. Davis is a very strong receiver.

By all means the Christian thing to do is to accept them, but only after they have proven themselves somewhere else. If he wants to get a masters in religion in a few years by all means lets accept him as long as his track record has been clean up until that point.

Actually, that would be Doug Doughty breaking that news. Just giving credit where it's due.
