Hey Proto.
You know libertyflames.com now has this neat "Ask the AD" feature. If you have that many issues with Barber, step up and ask him some questions. He's put himself out there just for this purpose.

Sly, maybe you could create a locked thread for coaching prospects similar to what you did for MBB? B/c this is nothing about coaching in here.

Nothing but good ole rumors, innuendo and wild speculation. Hey, I think I'll use that as a fantasy team name this year.

In this thread and in this entire message board there are plenty of "petty" posters.....as long as your going to call them all out im cool with that ( if that is your opinion)
Nope, just Proto.
What do you care who I call out, Rocket? At least till I get to you, anyway?

Personally, I don't have any dog in the baseball fight. I've met Royer exactly one time and I never met Tomlin at all. But, for someone to come on here saying they "support my school" and then take shots at the AD, the coaches of other programs and "Fire (I mean Liberty) University" at large, followed by packing up their laptop and stomping off in a huff, yeah, that's petty. I could have gone with 'juvenile', 'childish', 'adolescent', 'purile', 'piddling', 'shallow' or just plain 'weak', but I've got a thing for 'Tank Girl' so 'petty' it is.
Lib, you can feel free to call me out anytime you like, i have made no secret of my stances on some things, nor do i make a secret of my identity. I understand you probabably said that in fun, but im just being honest.

I have no dog in this fight either, but there have been other instances where neither of us have had a dog and i just can't remember you calling anyone else out. I guess when you say " petty" you are also looking for some consistancy from Proto(IMHO) by telling him he can't say "Support our school" and then take shots. I was simply looking for the same from you or at least trying to understand where you are coming from on this one.

Well, first of all, I'm not going to pretend to be consistent at all on "calling people out". I mean, it's a messageboard first and it's a messageboard last. I suppose that if I were anyone with any real authority here than I would probably need to keep things fairly even-handed on all sides of every issue. But, I'm not, so I just pretty much call out anyone who irks me.

You guys can argue on here all day about who should be hired / fired from the baseball team and it won't bother me. That's completely your perogative. You can even call each other names and insult the genetic makeup of the respective family trees, for all I care. Smoothie and HMO won't like it but, again, won't bother me. Where Proto crossed the "line", as far as I'm concerned, was dragging the other sports and the university as a whole into it under the umbrella / tantrum of "supporting my school". That, I'm calling out. Also, the sounding like a nine year-old girl.

You need a worker, not a name.

You had the best coach in the conference and you ran him out. Royer may not have the most polished personality, he wasn't a MLB player and he is tough on his players.

Here's some news, Coach Gilmore isn't loved by everyone in his dugout either. If you want wins, you need a Coach that can make difficult roster decions. In a Division I enviroment you can't make everyone happy.

If winning is important than you lost you best shot. He had a proven track record and he had success at Liberty. Royer is Bill Belichick in stirrups and I can't figure out why more people aren't calling the administration to task on this situation.

If Royer failed to meet LU standards for success on the diamond, then God bless his replacement. I would caution him to rent and not buy.

Whoa....are you serious??? I have not said anything about this situation at all because I don't know a whole lot of the background information...but last I checked Bill Belichick won championships...Royer did not....

I don't know if they should have forced him out or not, but it happened and I am sure Jeff Barber will make a good hire. I am not too worried about it

Belichick with the Patriots or with the Cleveland Browns? Just curious.

By the way, PAMike, thanks for joining the board today and saying the exact same things as Proto who went off in a snit yesterday. That's not suspicious at all.

Yea because you know way more than a highly experienced AD at the D1 level. I feel 100% confident with Barber until he gives me reason to feel differently.
So give the man a chance to bring in folks who he feels will take the program in the direction he wants it to go.

And I'm with Lib, I like your Proto name better than this one, or is it the Judge?

For the record the IP confirms this is someone from PA, I understand why some would guess that he is a member already b/c its been done many times on here but I wanted to clear that up. Keep in mind where Royer grew up, I'm sure he has a lot of supporters from PA.

I stand corrected. For a moment, I thought that Proto was trying to channel "Prison Mike" from the 'The Office'.

Still. Belichick? Really.

This is supposed to be a...
...RUMORS THREAD.

Let's try to keep it at that. If you want to bash LU or the decision, take it somewhere else.

Now that I got that out of the way...anyone have any juicy speculation?

Whats great is we could have both.

This is so ignorant I wont even respond to it. The best??????? Thats like a kid is batting .200 but the paper names him the Player of the Year, turns out his father is the sports editor.

Heres some news LU isnt looking for a Joe Torre, and I can promise the next coach will be the face of the baseball program get involved in the community and help spread the word on how great LU is. Oh and do that minor thing of help develop athletes and have them leaving LU telling everyone how great the school is and not naming every school in DI before you recommend LU
PAMike wrote:If winning is important than you lost you best shot.
LU has won before and they will win after, in fact they have won more before than they did during. This is not a set back.
PAMike wrote: He had a proven track record and he had success at Liberty. Royer is Bill Belichick in stirrups and I can't figure out why more people aren't calling the administration to task on this situation.
Nobody should ever take away from Coach what he did before he got to LU, that was as impressive as you can get, but his personality did not work here. He will coach again and I'm sure he'll win, but I highly doubt it to take place at a Christian institution and its not because he's not a solid Christian it's because those at that school sometimes look for council and he wont be your shoulder.

and for your Bill Belichick reference you should be banned from speaking (not just on a message board) for a solid month
PAMike wrote:If Royer failed to meet LU standards for success on the diamond, then God bless his replacement. I would caution him to rent and not buy.
Again, we won before we'll win again. Our next coach (if done right and not some young up and comer) will be here for the long haul.

PAMike, welcome to the board. By all accounts, MR was a good person, but to say he was successful here is questionable. His record was just a little over .500 with no conference championships. To say that this was our best shot of winning and annointing him the best coach in the conference is somewhat far-fetched.
While LU is a unique situation, it has been proven in the past, that we have the ability to win a conference championship and that should be our minimum goal. We do have some stout competition in our conference, but yes, we can do better.
We will not hire a coach that will win the BS every year, but obviously there were reasons to make a change, and it sounds like JB was very up front about that with Matt during the year. Until JB makse a bad decision, I am willing to stay in his camp and trust his decisions. No one here knows 100% of the story but when there are the same comments made from many different directions regarding his ability to realte to players and potential recruits, there may just be some truth to it.
Looking forward to hearing who is in the mix and hope we get a HC soon. Good luck to Matt and the rest of his staff in finding a new place to land, I am sure they will be successful in their future endeavors.

Am I schizophrenic? Or am I?

While CCU is not technically a major, they have played like one in recent years.

Come on, people. Let's not let this get personal once again. Suffice it to say that there is a strong disagreement between Royer backers & detractors. We get it. Now let's move on.

Ohhh 6-7?? Man, wrap it up then 😭
