...if they can't win 10 games next year with that schedule.

By the way, have we gotten a new kicker yet?

Easy, Ed. Ashamed might be a little strong. I think most of us will be disappointed with anything less than 9 wins.

As for the kicker, there's still time for that situation to be remedied.

You have to remember that we don't know what everybody is bringing to the table so putting a 10 win standard on the table is a bit much this early. and I wouldn't necessarily be ashamed if they didn't achieve 10 wins but it would be a disappointment of sorts. William and Mary is AT the Zable Stable, then Toledo, then also remember that we haven't beaten Coastal since their first year in football

Anything less than 9 wins would be a dissapointment. You figure we are going to loose to Toledo and at least a split vs William and Mary or Elon on the road. All of the home games should be wins.

We all know the team is headed in the right direction, but putting a number of wins on the season right now is a tough thing to do. Some may criticize the schedule, but you try to schedule wins before you get a "BCS" worthy schedule. The Toledo game mixed with the other non-conference games is an excellent line-up. I did notice that UT is returning 18 starters from last year's 5-6 team, what a great challenge for our guys.

 What do you care? You're not coming to any of our games anyway.

We'll beat Elon. To even put them in the same discussion is laughable.

Hburg came to 2-3 games last year. Medic was at 2. People from out of town come all of the time.

Thank you for defending me sportscritic. I also have other activities that I am involved in with family responcibilities on top of that. Very tough to travel and be away from my family too often (priorities you know). If I do go down, which I might this year to the Coastal game, LU's performance would have to be acceptable meaning playoff worthy and the team that they were playing would have to be someone I could relate to and feel good about if we were to beat them. If I feel that LU has a slim or none chance of winning then I don't go down, simple as that. I have been down too many times in the past (sometimes 4 times a year but that is before the family responcibilities took over) and experienced an LU blowout or a disappointing loss. It is no fun traveling 6 hours home with that on your mind, believe me, and with gas prices the way they are it is an expensive trip home.

We all understand family obligations and no one would give you crap if it was just for that. It's when you say, "The team has to be this good or it's not worth my time." That's what pisses people off.

I will try to make it to the Coastal game unless something comes up. The other 5 home games would appear to be poor competition so they might not be worth the trip. I really want to see the new field, operations center, and stadium improvements so that would provide extra motivation as well as to meet some of you.

Thanks! It is easy to badmouth someone when you live in Lynchburg and are connected with the team and I live 6 hours away. When you live that far away you have to draw the line somewhere and there has got to be a motivating factor.

We have never bad mouthed you for not coming. We understand that. However, it's the attitude towards coming to the games. This is the 2nd season that the team has to live up to your un-Godly standards or else you won't deem it worthy to watch, yet you'll still complain about the schedule or some other thing.

yeah- actually if you haven't seen any of that stuff you will be knocked outta your sox when you do.

the YEARLY changes are amazing, let alone if you've missed the last 3-4 yrs (or in my case, 15+ )

Nothing "ungodly" about the standards. I do expect LU to compete favorably with the JMU's, the Delaware's, and the William and Mary's of the world and be "playoff worthy". Nothing ungodly about that and we may be at that level now. Only time will tell. I have been around long enough to know what is acceptable and our schedule and the conference we are in are not (acceptable) although our performance is getting there.

Yea. I haven't been there since the William and Mary game 3 years ago when we lost 38-10. When I was there the GE, Erikson building was still being renovated and the Operations center was a "hole in the ground". Back then I thought that the football team had adequate facilities but from what I have seen through this board and the website is pretty amazing and I can't wait to see it up close and in person.

Steve ask H-burg.. He witnessed a few LU losses but I promise you had a heck of a time. Medic and even his dad had a blast when they came... Plus are tailgates are getting better and better every game...Looking forward to the new additions for the Spring game too!!!

Back when I went to games regularly I saw very little tailgating going on at all (maybe a couple of small groups here and there). Maybe there is a big push to try to improve the game day atmosphere at football games.

Everyone is pushing tailgating, from the top down. Barber's wife tailgated a spot or two up from us and the coach's wives tailgated two spots down from us last year (madmat and crew were in between us and the coach's wives). It'll get better with time.
