Could it be that the lack of activity on the football thread is indicative of a decreased interest in the program following last year’s disappointing season?

More likely less interest in a schedule without any power 4 teams. Some in our conference have 2.

Keep the revival on the down low. It’s been nice to not have AI chat bots posting here.

And being stuck in conference where certain members are busy obsessing about which FCS team may join us next
Beginning to think there was a lot of money wasted to upgrade to the new D-IAA

These LU armchair coaches crack me up. Some of y’all talk like football geniuses when the only thing you ever played was probably the violin in middle school. 😂

But hey, you posters really are sharp… kinda like HCJC and a wooden spoon

Isn't this what folks on here wanted? "It's better for the Olympic sports and we need to be a full member in a conference! " Even when the decision was made of LU going to CUSA, folks raved that this would be beneficial overall and boost the name brand even more than what it was then in 2022. It's 2022 and that claim is totally destroyed and the statement of us playing with FCS teams will not benefit the brand is more obvious than years ago. Even those teams are doing better than us in some categories with less money spending. No P4 teams want to play LU and not even top G6 teams either. This move was obviously a step backwards long term that would keep us in limbo as mention repeatedly. Would we be in the same situation if football stayed independent plus remain in the ASUN? Would we have to remove games with mutual agreements of canceled games? We will never know 100%, yet there will be opinions about it I'm sure. At the end of the day, it's basically a lose-lose situation, because in reality, no one really wants to play LU with the background of the school including the JFJR situation that will always linger along. Also, as we know, academic prestige matters always. Most teams are already classified as R1 (most P4 and some G6) or R2(small% of P4 and larger amount of G6) on the Carnegie Classification Ratings. Since LU is continuously focused mostly on online admissions (plus being classified as a R3 since 2016), it will never reach the level of academia/research funding acceptance by any P4 or even the top G6 conference (PAC/AAC). So yeah, LU is where it's at for many reasons, and the interest of folks will remain mediocre at best especially when football plays G6 bottom feeders plus FCS-esque conference teams who have made the program look like joksters for the past couple seasons. Is it worth paying season tickets? Just some thoughts :D

This has nothing to do with the conference we are in. CUSA is a good fit across the board. We just can't schedule strong outside of conference games. That's the problem.

Being independent wasn't financially feasible.

CUSA was honestly a perfect fit for LU in every sport. The problem is apparently HCJC can’t go undefeated in what armchair experts call the easiest conference in college football and the easiest non-conference schedule imaginable.

If he does? LU is probably sitting in talks for a major bowl game again… kind of like when he “just happened” to walk into a gold mine with another coach’s players. Funny how that keeps becoming the narrative every few years.

Still, maybe the bigger issue is whether HCJC was ever really the right hire for the Flames in the first place. After more than three years, the record has started trending in the wrong direction instead of showing steady growth. Sure, people can point to the transfer portal and how chaotic college sports have become, but that’s the reality every program has to navigate now. At some point, excuses stop carrying weight, and it becomes fair to question whether HCJC and the staff are having trouble adapting to the current landscape of college football.
