Everybody knows KS can dominate at this level in this offense. If he stays and does it again….so what? If he goes and dominates in the Big Ten, stock goes up?

I hope everyone stays. But I can’t fault them for improving themselves by going.
He didn’t ball out at SEC UT. He didn’t ball out last year under Freeze. He DID play ball out this year. He is greatly improved under this coaching staff and their confidence in him. There’s 0 guarantee he can duplicate this past season at say Ohio Stae. They certainly will not be as patient with him as the staff is here. Having said that I certainly would not blame him for taking the money and going elsewhere. He is a marginal NFL player at best. Get your money now while you can young man!
Conversely if I’m Cooley I stay. He probably has better NFL prospects than KS. Staying at LU and putting up gaudy numbers is only a positive for his prospects. Leaving money on the table now for more later is a good strategy IMO

I wouldn’t blame Salter if he took the money but it is a big risk for him. If he has one or two bad games he’s pretty much done as he’s now dealing with big time boosters. Lastly the NFL doesn’t run Chadwell’s system and he thrived in it while Freeze, which is closer to the NFL, struggled.

The coaches must feel confident tho in Bradford or that he’s returning because they haven’t been recruiting JuCo/Transfet QB’s. It’s all been DL/OL, WR, LB, DB and RB.

I liked Hodges but if we have Singleton and Green coming back we are good. Williams was a 3 star recruit and Wiggins was a 3 star recruit so they should step in just fine. Is Reese done or does he have more eligibility?

As things stand today our starters in the secondary will be good but we'll be very thin. Singleton, Greene and Reese are all good. Williams played a decent amount this year and should be good for us next year. Beyond that there's a bunch of question marks which explains the recruiting strategy.

If we have Quinton and Green as our safeties, and Kobe stays, then I feel really good about our secondary being ball hawks again next year. The other corner position will be just fine with who we have or transfers coming in

paradox wrote: December 16th, 2023, 11:43 am I would think if Kaiden has a huge game and can keep his team in it until the end, then they’ll be immediate draft speculation. But even with that, staying has upside.
Whether he stays or transfers it would be best for him to stay in college another year and develop more. A 60% completion percentage is solid in college but would be among the worst in the league in the NFL. I would say that's his biggest weakness at the moment.
Pro scouts have a completely different evaluation process. And stats are never reliably interpreted straight-on or literal . They can help, but meaningless without sufficient context.

IMO - Salter runs it back next year and again puts up good stats - he gets drafted top 2 rounds.

If he goes to a team like Ohio State and stinks - he doesn't get drafted at all.

I know he could do well anywhere, but IMO - it's a bigger risk for him.

Define ‘fair amount’

A fair amount is what the market dictates. Granted, us paying “fair”, maybe less than something ridiculous by some big Ohio State booster….but staying put in a program that works is worth a lot. Can’t blame him if someone gives him life changing money….but, hopefully he thinks long term as well. We need to take care of him.
If we want to play with the big boys…..this is the new reality.
Jacksonville State said it was unfair competing with our money?

Agree with your first statement. I’m just not sure LU can or would want to match fair market value. And right now Fair Value is life changing money. It’s a tough decision for this young man for sure. Does he enjoy his time here at LU and maybe make some decent money and enjoy your college career. Knowing you’ll still probably get your shot at the NFL. Or do you take the money, go to Ohio St, make more ‘guaranteed’ money and roll the dice?
IMO either way he’s a marginal NFL QB at this point. And Ohio St doesn’t have a great track record of QB’s experiencing success in the NFL

Let me throw some more gas on the fire…..

If KS is thinking seriously about takin the money, that is presumable life-changing money, why play in the bowl game?

And that’s just the guys you are familiar with: Haskins, Cardale Jones, Pryor, Troy Smith, etc.

Check out Tate Martell. He went to OSU out of HS with a ton of fanfare and barely saw the field.

Great question. But I’m thinking he’s looking at this as more of a reward and an opportunity to up his stock

Does Burrow count? Fair point on Stroud. I like him.

Burrow only spent one semester in Baton Rouge so the majority of his development came in Columbus. Yeah, that staff missed big time on recognizing Joe's value. Ultimately in shorter time slot, the same was the case with Ewers.

CJ is proving to be the best QB prospect potentially since Andrew Luck. He's shattering records left & right.

Burrow. You mean the guy sitting on the bench at Ohio St before he transferred to LSU and won the Heisman?
