Way to post the same thing in two threads before waiting for an answer. Chris answered you in the other thread.

This hiring of a new coach thing has the potential to be a disaster, ala Hankinson. I know everyone realizes this, just thought I'd mention it.

Barber really has a lot on the line. Its very tough to find a coach who can do what Greg Marshall has done at Winthrop, and to a lesser extent, what Dunton has done at LU the last five years. I think we at LU are just expecting brilliance from the next coach and there are no guarantees. I certainly hope it will happen, but I'm a little concerned.

I'm not concerned in the least bit. Barber will find someone that he likes, and then he will consult with people that he knows and trusts to help make sure it's the right fit. It'll be a good hire.

Dukes having a terrible year...its about time they shook things up over there....coach K only makes 9 mil a year...I say we give him what ever money he wants and put his name on a mountain. There is no greater way to prove he is the best coach of all time then to have him bring Liberty to the top.

I was thinking more along the lines of Pat Riley. You can't go wrong. He classy, that was for the dox, has great hair, and is the best dressed coach of all time. I mean come on guys the man patented "three-peat". And best of all, after he and my world champion Heat visited the White House, we all know he is a "W" kind of guy. He and Jerry could come up with a "25,000" strong kind of thing. This would cap off his legendary career. LA, NY, MIA, Lynchburg. Who wouldn't want to ride off into basketball nirvana in the enema capital of the world. And I almost forgot, Shaq could do some assisting when he is not helping out with the blue thunder or whatever.

Ray Giacoletti

This is the guy that Lang reccomended. He has solid credentials. Ray is a former ORU assistant who led Utah all the way to the sweet-16 a few years back as head coach.

He's probally beyond our reach, but it's fun to dream :D

Hey Sly,

We need to move this guy into our pantheon.

I'd be happy to give a Paesano some love on the list. Why not?

on a side note- I was jonesing for a good manicotti last night and couldn't find any, so I settled for baked ziti (w/ Italian bread, of course)

the calzone would've been my next choice.

Someone mentioned Tom Brennan, the ex-Vermont coach. If I am not mistaken, his contract with ESPN was for two years. Does anyone have any legit information about his religious-leanings...
...meaning, does he go to CHURCH? We know he can coach and is a great personality.

I don't think that he wants to get back into coaching... Now I know that never say never could easily apply here.. but I don't see him leaving his post at ESPN, he is proably getting paid pretty good to work only 5 months out of the year... I would trade that spot in a hearbeat!!!!

I don't know who "religious" he is but I would gladly take his place on ESPN :D

Why would he retire, after building Vermont up from nothing, only to get back into coaching 2 years later?

Tom Brennan is done coaching. Tom Brennan spent more of his coaching career being a morning DJ than winning basketball games. His associate head coach was the brains of the operation, Brennan was simply the puppet. It took him 20 + years to achieve a .500 record and had it not been for Towson, Hofstra, Delaware, and Drexel leaving the America (L)east, no one would know Brennan's name today. Discussion closed.

If you want to wait 17 years, then he would be your man

Yea, Brennan had some interest until he found out that this was Lynchburg, VA and not Lynchburg, TN.

Since this is a rumor thread I heard a "rumor" that the ncaa really has pushed LU in recent years to get an african american head coach since they have never had one...and i have heard that this is playing on JB's mind...just something to think about

I was going to say thats the stupidest thing I'd ever heard but thought that might be a little harsh.

Not the concept itself- but that someone would attempt to influence the hiring process and base someone's value soley on the basis of SKIN COLOR.

:x

and that goes BOTH WAYS
