I’m starting to have a feeling Freeze stays and it ends up being Napier or Cristobal. That leads me to think that Freeze’s relationship + the mountain life, encouraging environment, upward trajectory, and more will lead Gus to Liberty as a advisor. He gets half of his 21 mil buyout within 30 days I think. The rest, I’m not sure of what would void it, but an analyst or advisor surely would not.

Update from my source (the one who told me on Friday that Gus was definitely let go): Oregon ponied up to retain Cristobal, so he's apparently a not coming to Auburn. Our folks don't want the baggage that comes with Freeze, so they're passing on him. They were seriously considering Chip Lindsey, but he's apparently going through some personal issues, so they are passing on him. Our folks were also considering Steve Sarkisian, but they're apparently passing on him as well. Lane Kiffin is under consideration and so is Mike Gundy.

Looks like HF may be staying. I just wish he would put out a statement to ensure we don't lose any commits this close to signing day. Maybe he is communicating personally with the major recruits.

No specific sources. But there is no reason to delay an announcement if HF is leaving. Unlike the situation with the Oregon coach, who seems to be AU's prime target. But things like this can change quickly.

No, I have never had the pleasure of speaking/meeting to ballcoach. I was close one time. My athletic sources are not as good as they once were, sad to say. I still have some that are very close to Jr., but I actually don't care about that much any more. We have moved on, as a university, and rightly so.

I'm starting to lean that way too. Seems like he's considered a non-starter to most on the Auburn message boards, who knows how close they are to the situation though. They seem generally aligned that Cristobal is their focus and either waiting until PAC-12 championship is over to announce or in a bidding war w/ Oregon. This particular quote was interesting (referencing someone on the committee/donor list):

These things change quickly and it's so hard to tell though. Freeze just started being more active on twitter ahead of signing day, so unless I read otherwise I'm shifting my focus and looking forward to finishing our class strong.
