I completely agree that JMU should be on the schedule. Seems like a no brainer to me.
I'd also be okay trying to get Coastal for September 5. They lost their game with South Carolina that week. As much as both fan bases like to claim we've moved on from the rivalry, it'd still be fun and is the only school we truly have a history with.

Yeah, that could be fun. Agreed.

I like to pretend that I don't care about Coastal but the truth is, it is really fun to beat them.

I'd be fine with Coastal, as long as it's at the Bill. It might actually be an easier game than JMU. From a strictly pragmatic standpoint, since this is essentially a replacement game for NC A&T, Elon makes the most sense.

I wonder if the reason we were able to keep the ACC games is that we offered to reduce or waive the “buy game” checks?

I wouldn’t be shocked if NMSU snuck in for a visit. I view Elon on par with A&T and NMSU on par with UConn. No need to schedule any More toss up games - ( JMU or Coastal ) We are big road dogs for 4 games as it is. ( different story if we had lost 2 of the ACC games ) but to give us a realistic shot at a bowl game - we need 2 W’s on the books for these 2 games.

UVA is playing VMI. I guess ODU was too tough of an opponent for them. I still hope they go 0-11.

And it should be cheap. They already owe us a game. 8)

Liberty obviously assured the ACC they will follow ACC Covid-19 testing protocols for the season. Good on you guys.

We can debate the pros and cons of it...but it assured you keeping three of your highest profile games.

Do it... you have 3 away games versus ACC teams. The haters will still hate.

Getting to bowls help you build a program

I'd like Coastal followed by Old Dominion. Forget 2nd FCS game.

I retract my NMSU game - they are in good shape in Sept. BYU got slaughtered with their schedule. Now that we have 3 ACC games - makes no sense to schedule them from a W perspective, but we may anyway. Army needs help also. I have no problem giving Independents preference in a time of need - but then again...Upside would be a lot more eyeballs if we played BYU week 1 due to so many games being pushed back.

If only one FCA win still counted for bowl eligibility, I would tend to agree. As it is, it is counterproductive to make our task harder by replacing A&T with an FBS opponent. Like TexasMark said; you build a program by going to bowl games.

I like Ballcoach and consider him a good friend, but sometimes he can be a bitter old man. :oldhag
I don't even think Purple hates Marshall as much as Ballcoach hates Mr. Jefferson's University. Study

I agree about playing two very winnable game but if you could get BYU at home the first game of the season I think you have to take it.

Now we just have to wait and see if King Andrew relents on his quarantine and no attendance at games edicts.

Liberty’s press release says that we have 11 games scheduled and the schedule still has NCA&T on it. Can anyone confirm that we’re still playing A&T?

Due to less games per schedule for many teams, NCAA will likely have to make an exception this year and allow bowl games for 5 wins (with others being filled with 4 win teams if necessary) to fill all bowls.

As to the bowls, as long as Covid does not produce a fall surprise, I don't believe we will lose many, if any, bowl games even if they have are required to have no or reduced attendance due to Covid. The newer lower level bowls are made for TV events to provide good live content to ESPN and other networks. The networks will do what is needed to keep that good live content.

I read somewhere that A&T was going to try to put together an indy schedule, but am not aware that they have had any success with that.

It looks like right now A&T is in limbo, waiting to hear if the MEAC will go forward with proposed plans to play football in the Spring. If they decide to do that, our game is off. If not, they are going to try to play in the Fall. So far the BSC is not planning to just plug them in to Hampton's games, but as far as I can tell, that would not prevent individual BSC schools who lost a game when Hampton decided to forego the season from scheduling those games with A&T.
