Correct. But we are not an FBS team. We are a team in the second year of a transition from FCS to FBS.
Just trying to understand what you are trying to say here first...is your argument that we can go to a bowl game at 6-6 with 2 FCS wins, because we are in transition?
Correct. We cannot play our way into being eligible this year. We can only play in a bowl if the NCAA has to dig past the first few rules to fill bowl games. We could win out and still miss out on a bowl if there are enough 6-6 teams.

As for qualifying to meet the requirements for "Insufficient Number of Deserving Teams" Remember, we are exceeding the required minimum of 3 FBS home games this season. That rule was made knowing some schools would transition with 3 FCS games.

A full FBS member that plays two FCS games will have already been selected in the first exception as outlined in the NCAA article I posted above.

If it wasn't for this rule, schools like UVA would schedule Richmond, Wm and Mary plus one other every year. Didn't UVA back out of a game with LU 2 , 3 or 4 years ago ?
I can see UVA playing 3 FCS games -Richmond, William, and Mary!

While it is true that we would have to benefit from there not being enough eligible teams to be selected, pretty much every other detail that you are apparently really sure you are right about, you are absolutely wrong.

No one can count a second FCS win in their win total in terms of bowl eligibility. Normally a team can count one FCS win if that FCS opponent is basically a full scholarship program. If there aren’t enough eligible teams at that standard, only then could an FCS win against a team that doesn’t meet the funding/scholarship requirement count as your one eligible FCS win. It still doesn’t grant any sort of exemption for a second FCS win to be counted. A team in the second year of FCS transition isn’t granted any different treatment on this issue. The 3 FBS home game requirement has nothing to do with bowl eligibility.

It’s not that you don’t have a decent source there with the NCAA rules, it’s just that you don’t understand them. I’m not trying to come after you, but the guy who would know better than anyone here came to clear it up. He talks with the AD pretty regularly. His info is legit.
I may be wrong. I can admit that. The is an absolute truth on this. I may not have it.

If I am misinterpreting the NCAA rule, it is because the three supporting articles made the same assertion and one of those articles was the NCAA explaining the changes. If the AD is being told different, the NCAA is contradicting itself.

I don't get to flaunt around press credentials or name drop who my phone contacts are. But I can read.

Why is our AD being told something different than what is well documented?

Do we believe that the articles I shared above from NCAA, ESPN, and SB Nation about filling bowl spots with undeserving teams are all wrong on the same point?

You were in the Air Force, right? If so you should be use go how instructions are oftentimes interpreted much differently than the intent of that instruction.

To me, it seems like that is what is happening here. You are reading the docs at face value when in fact that was not the actual intent of the documents.

Thankfully the Air Force is doing a massive AFI review to fix this very issue. Maybe the NCAA should do the same. Nobody seems to be able to interpret their guidelines exactly the same.

OH I know that pain. Probably a good analogy too. I was security forces too and spent most of my time on the Security side not LE. I read in black and white and don't factor for the spirit of the law.

Sorry I've been abrasive, y'all. I was wrong in how I presented the information I had found. I still think there are some contradictions on the NCAA side, but that isn't any of your faults.

If LU makes a bowl game, I will go, no matter where or day/time. (other than Hawaii Bowl)

Ballcoach can't drive to Hawaii (and he's afraid to fly).

I understand for most people. I'm talking about Ballcoach, who seems like he has endless amounts of time to catch any game that comes up.

IF, LU were to make a bowl game.....I would certainly go and would hope we had a very strong showing. It would be interesting to ponder what our fan base's motivation would be for attendance if we did make a bowl.

Id hope that athletics hit the ground running and got rooms blocked off for fans (especially if it was the Cure Bowl)

Do you mean other than to see the historic first LU bowl game and hope that we win, or are you wondering about how many fans would make the trip?

The latter really. I mean, those of us on this board are pretty passionate so I'm sure it would seem a no-brainer for most here that were able, but I'm just curious if we could draw a respectable number. I would hope so....considering the monumental achievement it would be. Perhaps the questions being raised about our draw for this year's home games is what drove my thoughts on the matter. Surely the fact it's a our first bowl game would motivate some who may have never come to a regular season game.
