I am a little suprised at the jack from Rutgers. They NEVER were that much of a draw in their area, and even though a member of the Big East - never seemed to be well endowed with funds. I am suprised also that Georgia would pay that much to Boise State considered where Boise State was ranked at the time, and I am sure Boise State wanted to prove something on a national scale. That was a big gamble for UGA considering that was not necessarilty a guaranteed win. I guess it all take care of itself though because they smacked them pretty good.

There are also games where we've received much more than that, Generally never less than $80,000

Rocco told me last night that indeed he's trying to get Rutgers off the schedule. My best guess is that the Sept. 23 date will end up being a bye week, since Oct. 7 is homecoming week and as of now, there is no game scheduled there.

He said the completion of the schedule is contingent on the A.D. being hired. Paul Rutigliano is handling the scheduling for now.

Bummer. One of my best friends and her husband are moving to NYC and I was going to get to hang out with them that weekend. :(

I'm a little surprised we haven't filled some of these holes by now. I hope we don't get stuck with a bunch of matchups with DIIs from WV & PA filling out out non-conference holes. I'm cool with one DII to be a glorified scrimmage to start the season. But that's more than plenty.

He did say he wants to play a I-AA in that hole, whichever weekend it may be. I can't see Jerry going for two DIIs on the schedule. There are still schools with open slots, so there's still time to work on it.

I'd like to see us schedule some more OVC schools like when they played Eastern Kentucky a few years ago.

Jerry doesn't care at this point, and he rather see a exciting football game...if we have a winning season and we are playing good football then he wouldn't want any D II at all...but he really doesn't enforce his opinion in a matter like this...he's willing to keep things like this to himself (although there are tally marks in his head, and if need be they all come out  )

As a general principle, I'd rather play lousy I-AAs than quality DIIs who can come up and embarass us. Keep in mind the general population of the student body couldn't tell the difference between Appy State & Concord College. Well at least they couldn't until that "Hot Hot Hot" video came out. :D
