The acrimony generated by this election isn't going away after November 8th, and school presidents have long memories.

Am I being pessimistic in my prognosis?

Big 12 news conference scheduled for some point this afternoon from Dallas. AD's are in the dark according to ESPN.

Either the AD's have been told to strictly keep it out of the news, or they're genuinely in the dark. Either way, seems to me the President's are calling ALL the shots. And I don't know what that means.

Someone tweeted out a photo that shows a new media back drop for the University of Cincinnati with the Big 12 logo all over it.

Edit: It's on "RedDirtSport" twitter account

ESPN just told me that the Big 12 "according to multiple reports" is deciding to stick with 10 members because they could not come to a decision on adding anyone.

I suppose this thread can go dormant once again until 2025 when the Big 12 grant of rights agreement expires and the league dissolves as Texas and OU bolt for greener pastures, leaving everyone else to fend for themselves. Maybe the remaining eight teams will create a new G5 conference out of the ruins and invite a few friends to join them!

It's been fun! ;)

Oh, I fully expect this to be a story again late spring and summer 2017. They only prolonged the process ad didn't kill it. Let me state now that if it pops back up then it will have a similar result.

This non-move could also hasten the G5 shuffling now that it is obvious that the P5 status quo is going to hold awhile longer. I wouldn't be surprised to see some MWC and CUSA movement especially here in the Lone Star State.

None of which will help us at all.

Maybe, maybe not! ;)

Apparently C-USA's new TV contract tanked, going from $1.1 million per school to $2.8 million for the entire 14-team league. The Mountain West is more attractive now, and some of the schools out in Texas (UTEP, Rice, UTSA and North Texas) are interested in possibly making the jump. This statement in the article is telling:
Conference USA is increasingly on the same footing as the Sun Belt Conference, a league that was once considered far inferior.

Anyway, even if the big dominoes didn't fall, some smaller ones might, and my impression is that Liberty doesn't particularly care about the prestige of the FBS conference - any invite will do.

If the president is involved in NCAA athletics then we have bigger problems.
Maybe it's time to really consider the possibility that the election might be a game changer for Liberty's BCS bid...

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell University will make a special announcement Monday, November 14 at 1 p.m. regarding its football program.

The public is invited to join the event on Ed Gore Field at Barker-Lane Stadium for the news.
I suppose there are other possibilities, but it certainly would appear they are either dropping football (not likely IMHO) or going scholarship and joining the BSC I have always heard that Campbell has the resources to support scholarship football if they choose to They are going nowhere in the Pioneer League There are more attractive schools in that conference and the Patriot League for the athletes who actually can play at the FCS level and are willing to do it without a schollie

Sounds like they will be joining the Big South.
