If you want to talk ASUN smack or ramble ad nauseum about your favorite pro or major college teams, this is the place to let it rip.

As far as I know Wilt is still there, for now at least. If Locksley gets the permanent HC job Wilt will most likely stay. However Locksley getting the permanent job is somewhat unlikely at this point.

I'm glad Edsall is gone. He should have been gone after the collapse last year, a team that beat PSU and Michigan on the road should NEVER lose to Rutgers at home.

Dan McCarney has been fired as North Texas coach, the school announced an hour after a disappointing, blowout loss to an FCS program that continued a spiraling season.

The Mean Green lost their homecoming game to Portland State 66-7 on Saturday, falling to 0-5.
Would Gill have any interest in going to his alma mater and resurrecting it?

Im sure if they called (regardless of who the AD is since some are saying the current one might be canned over this), he would answer. Whether or not he would seriously consider it is another matter

Sarkisian fired.

At least the LA Times did some decent reporting on this piece. The hypocrisy is overwhelming. http://www.latimes.com/sports/usc/la-sp ... story.html
That article is just the tip of the iceberg on Sarkisian's time at UW. He should have never been hired at USC in the first place. Probably not at UW either.

I know they're having a rough year, but the timing is really odd. Hopefully it's not a health issue that's forcing Spurrier to step down.

Two months ago at the SEC media Days he was talking about coaching for several more years and that his doctor told him he had the health of a 50-year-old.

I highly doubt Gill would even consider to N Texas, especially considering the mess he would arrive to. Yes, he has a degree from the school, but in the football sense, it is not his alma matre. He is a Nebraska guy.

Oh dear Lord, this is when fans pretend to be experts after the fact. If coaches weren't hired because of alcohol abuse or cheating on their wives, there wouldn't be enough coaches to fill positions. Now, if you want to discuss the handling of Sark after the infamous press conference, I'll hear you. But for the love of everything, stop making this argument about how Sark shouldn't have been hired.

Haden is one of the smartest AD's in the country and if he gets fired, he'll quickly find another job.

And let's stop with the Charlie Strong crap. Before Mack Brown came to Texas, they had been mediocre for 28 of the previous 30 years...Texas isn't Michigan, USC, Ohio State, Miami, Florida, FSU, Oklahoma, Alabama, Nebraska or even Auburn. Strong has been great everywhere; it's not like he all of the sudden took over Texas and became dumb.

I get it, you are from Texas and thus unable to provide an objective view of Texas football...but before Mack Brown, you were spending half of your time unranked and several seasons struggling to finish over .500

The team finished the season ranked in the Top 25 in 3 of the 4 seasons before Mack arrived. If that is your standard of mediocre, then I guess I have no argument. Other than the regrettable David McWilliams years (who is actually a great guy) they were a fixture in the Top 25 in your suggested time of mediocrity and won a couple of national championships. But what do I know?

Anyone who knew anything about UW knew this stuff was going on. When he was an assistant at USC, this was undoubtedly happening at some level but it wasn't widely known. After he became HC at UW, everyone knew that he was an alcoholic and constantly acting inappropriately. It should have been stopped by Scott Woodward, but it wasn't. The track record was there and Haden ignored it.

Yeah, you got two national championships from Darrell Royal between 1963 and 1970. From 71 until Brown was hired, you spent the better part of that time barely over .500 and spent 12 seasons finishing unranked. Honestly, I'm starting to think "mediocre" is too generous for a program that considers themselves "elite."

Maybe he wasn't drinking enough after his arrival at USC, he did a better job at UW. I am not a Pat Haden fan (he sucked as the Ram's QB), but he is a decent guy. I wouldn't question his intelligence, he graduated from one of the best private HS's in California and he was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship after graduating from USC. He appears to have made a bad decision hiring Sark, but overall he has been a positive influence on the Trojans.
