Story is that Sarkisian was drunk during the Arizona State game and assistants had to pull him out of a huddle at least once because of it.

The Mean Green lost their homecoming game to Portland State 66-7 on Saturday, falling to 0-5.

Yes, he has a degree from the school, but in the football sense, it is not his alma matre. He is a Nebraska guy.bluejacket wrote:"Dan McCarney dismissed at North Texas"Would Gill have any interest in going to his alma mater and resurrecting it?

If coaches weren't hired because of alcohol abuse or cheating on their wives, there wouldn't be enough coaches to fill positions. Now, if you want to discuss the handling of Sark after the infamous press conference, I'll hear you. But for the love of everything, stop making this argument about how Sark shouldn't have been hired.

At least the LA Times did some decent reporting on this piece. The hypocrisy is overwhelming. http://www.latimes.com/sports/usc/la-sp ... story.html
That article is just the tip of the iceberg on Sarkisian's time at UW. He should have never been hired at USC in the first place. Probably not at UW either.

When he was an assistant at USC, this was undoubtedly happening at some level but it wasn't widely known. After he became HC at UW, everyone knew that he was an alcoholic and constantly acting inappropriately. It should have been stopped by Scott Woodward, but it wasn't. The track record was there and Haden ignored it.

Other than the regrettable David McWilliams years (who is actually a great guy) they were a fixture in the Top 25 in your suggested time of mediocrity and won a couple of national championships. But what do I know?Yeah, you got two national championships from Darrell Royal between 1963 and 1970. From 71 until Brown was hired, you spent the better part of that time barely over .500 and spent 12 seasons finishing unranked. Honestly, I'm starting to think "mediocre" is too generous for a program that considers themselves "elite."

I wouldn't question his intelligence, he graduated from one of the best private HS's in California and he was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship after graduating from USC. He appears to have made a bad decision hiring Sark, but overall he has been a positive influence on the Trojans.VAGolf wrote:Oh dear Lord, this is when fans pretend to be experts after the fact.
