As far as I can tell, he still hasn't been offered by any school he actually wants to attend. We probably missed a chance to land him early and make all this unnecessary, but I'm still hopeful he will be in a Flames Uniform in 2016.

+100 to you sir.

We're all waiting for your totally impartial and objective assessment of Jacob's performance Hooks. lol

Just kidding with the sarcasm of course. Dads can't really be objective, but that works both ways and sometimes makes them the toughest critics.

Why can't dads be objective, mine knows you don't let no one outwork you, then the chips can fall where they may. If your just not good enough that's one thing, but if it's because your out worked then that's your own fault. Bottom line make plays at your position when your name is called and it shouldn't be a problem.

Parents? Objective about their child? Good one!

Called being a realist at the same time, so some are better at it than others, maybe?

Ask Nick. Looking back now that it's all over, I probably should have given a few more atta boy. I believe in keeping it real. Told other people about his good and bad, but he got a lot of " what happened on this play"

That's my point. Objectivity isn't all 'Look at how great my precious Snow Flake' is out there. It cuts the other direction as well

Haha! Good stuff on the objectivity. You can definitely place me in the category of the Dad that probably focuses on the deficiencies versus the good stuff. I am an old D2 QB, so I am always critiquing everything from his footwork to just simple body language. He gets blasted for everything. But, that's how he gets better. I coached him since he was just a lad..he is used to it and probably is the reason he is mentally tough. :-). I have definitely seen him throw more accurately than he did on Wednesday. But, his objective was to demonstrate his arm strength. He threw for over 90 minutes straight and was still reaching over 65 yards at the end. He had really good zip all through the showcase. His footwork on drops and rollouts was really good. Overall, there should never be another question of arm strength. He threw a few passes that sailed high on him. But, when you throw for an hour and half with nobody to share reps, that is going to happen. But, for the most part, he was on target on most of his passes short, mid and long range. He did a good job with a bunch of eyes on the kid. I was proud of him. (That was the dad in me)

He received a BUNCH of praise from the majority of the coaches in attendance via Twitter DMs. He certainly didn't hurt his stock on Wednesday. I shared with Jon the feedback he received from LU. It's really not my place nor my business nor in Jacob's best interest for me to share in public forum. That wouldn't be fair to anybody. LU doing their best to land the best available QB and they need to do their due diligence in selecting that right fit/recruit. The coaches owe that to you, school and your team. Jacob needs to do the same thing. I hope it works out but maybe it won't happen. He will land somewhere nice and LU will get a good QB. I am hopeful it is LU..but, I don't get a vote. Haha. No matter what, I will be forever grateful for the way they have treated him. They are first class all the way. Really impressed with Joe Dailey......That guy is going places in his profession!

Northern Iowa just jumped into the picture. They have expressed really high interest. Jacob all about them right now and we are going to journey out there in a couple of weeks. Which means I may have to order ESPN 23 to just see his face once a week. That kind of stinks, but again I don't get a vote on it. This about him now. I got recruited 25 years ago..this is his time. But, if NIU is who wants him to go to the dance, sometimes you have to learn to love the one who loves you. That's just the way it is. Plus, that is a pretty impressive football program. But, it is way too early in the process to worry about all of that right now. We are going to remain on course through our bounty through Christ. He was raised to trust in God's plan and he is committed to our faith. Again, proud Dad talking again. :-)

I was going to keep quiet. But, I promised to share what happened Wednesday and I hope I did a fairly decent job in describing what happened in the most objective manner. This is a great place for LU fans..y'all should be proud!!

I've been to Northern Iowa.....ugh.
NIU at least gives you an opportunity to see Cindy Crawford if she return to her hometown.
LU is still a better option

I have never been to UNI and I already agree with you. LU much better option.

I knew it was UNI and not NIU, not sure why I typed it that way. My bad.

I dont believe it's possible for a parent to be objective. One way or another your role as a parent will influence how you view them. It could mean that you inflate what they are capable of or it could mean that you are more critical of their performance, either way, it's never truly objective.

Plain and simple it could just be that LU may miss out on this up and comer. Its quite obvious the kid is going to possibly get better and bigger and while LU continues to throw out "Hail Mary's" that have'nt been answered, this kid is continually keeping his nose to the grindstone and WILL be offered by others and most likely some big ones. But hey LU is apparently in the SEC now talent wise and feel they can pick and choose what they think is best.

I would hate for this potential to go somewhere else and come back to beat LU( with there luck the play-offs). And everyone knows kids as well as coaches can hold grudges( and its a lie) if you say you dont. Hopefully, here but if not wherever he may land.

If were taking 2 qbs i dont get how this kid wouldnt factor in. I mean if bradwell is perm out which i hear is highly likely we could take 3 though you wouldnt want to due to spacing.

I'm the Potentate for a reason

But I'm just saying, if you are going to get exercises about something at least be clear what it is you are upset about.
Obviously he is going to get better' is different than 'He potentially could get better'. Focus your rage. It's one of our tenents

I guess the bottom line in this conversation is that I am typing this post from Cedar Falls, Iowa. Next week I will post from Fargo, North Dakota. On June 22, I will post from Missoula Montana. Joe Dailey can change all of that with the push of few cell phone buttons. I guess the bright side is Jacob will end up in a really good football program. The bad news is I will only be able to see him play in person only a couple of times per year.. :? I guess you play the hand dealt to you. Still hoping things change soon. But, I am not holding my breath. :football It won't be long before we tee up another season! :football
