BJWilliams wrote:My guess forbidden is that they didn't get a chance to see him throw live this past season while they may have gotten to see some of the others. While I respect the fact that you have been a coach before, you aren't in the "war room" when they put this board together that obviously this kid was very high on. Much of the real action Im guessing will take place once we get into camp season just after the end of the school year, and then you will see who we are most seriously targeting. Coach Dailey sounds like he made a pretty significant impact on his initial visit, so Im guessing you'll see something at some point soon.

My friend, I am not disputing the fact they may have seen some, but to say your so "high" on a kid but are waiting for "better" to come along( Lets be honest and call a spade a spade because thats what they are doing) is wrong. To have to know you were someones second choice and fallback would not really sit well with me, but hey its not me. If he was that "high" offer would have been "extended" so the war room that you talk of being in is nothing more than a their opinion of where they wish to "slot" a kid. Doesn't make them anymore right than Mel Kiper to be honest. But its not my money to give away so it does'nt matter how I feel one way or the other, its just something in the whole process that sucks. And like you and they are entitled to their opinions about things, so am I. In the end I hope this kid and any kid goes where they feel most comfortable for them and there families. Like I told my own kid, sometimes you have to fall in love with those who fall in love with you.

Here is the link to Elite 11. He actually finished 2nd. The kid that won was well deserving and really good.

Good job, sounds like he really did impress some folks and open some eyes. What stood out to me in breaking down the comments about his "accuracy" and his sideline throws, which in all honesty go against what they are saying about arm strength if he is apparently able to make those throws outside the numbers. Again, good job sure some good things will be on the horizon.

The comment about not wowing anybody with arm strength does contradict the ability to throw to boundaries. There were 42 kids invited. They had a competition throwing from knees. He and another kid were the last 2 neck/neck still hitting their targets at 40 yards. None of the other kids could make the throw at that distance.

It seems he always fighting the arm strength perception and I am not sure why. He has quick feet and his drops are quicker than most. He also has quick release. So, the delivery of the football to his target doesn't take a fast ball. But, when he needs to put some mustard on a ball, he definitely can. I am living proof. He swells my hands black and blue at 40 yards.

Interesting comments above about when/why/who gets an offer. Some of that sounds like discussions in our house. :D I have not kept it a secret that I think Liberty is the perfect place for him.

Just curious Hooks. Have the other schools who, in your words, are doing a good job making Jacob feel wanted and needed, offered him a scholarship? A while back you indicated that the only schools who had actually offered really aren't places he wants to go. After a great visit and getting excited about the possibility of coming to LU, I can see how it could be frustrating to see other QBs get offers. I hope when the offer DOES come, he can keep in mind that if LU is the right place for him, it doesn't really matter who else was offered before or after. He will have the opportunity to be a part of something great and compete for the job.

He just received 2 additional offers. Cornell and South Carolina State. Without counting exact number, about 5/6 schools that have no QB offers out and claim he is at the top of their board. They are coming to watch him throw at his school May 6. I agree 100 percent with you and hope you are correct about the Liberty offer. I was just pointing out the psyche of the kid when they see the other offers go out to other kids. That wasn't in any way a declaration of having any impact on his final decision. I am almost positive if Joe Dailey called him today and offered you would have your first 2016 commitment. He likes Liberty that much. But, that will be his decision and will also depend on what has transpired between now and when/if that day ever comes.

There are a few FBS schools that have been very much up front in that they have kids higher on their board. If they should fall through, he would be next in line. I think that open communication goes a long way and helps a kid fully understand where he stands. Contrary to no feedback and watching offers go out to kids across country that may/may not been evaluated in person. I hope I am making sense.

Youre right, most of us haven't been through it...but for those of us that haven't, we do at least understand that there are two sides to every story, even in the recruiting races. Now obviously we can't get the story from the coaches due to NCAA rules, but I am sure there is a lot more to the situation with JW's recruiting than you may be speculating

Guys, the very last thing I want to do is create any conflict between y'all. You all have been unbelievably supportive and I am forever grateful. My son and I think the world of the Liberty coaches. There is really no two sides to the story to be debated. The kids they have offered are very talented and well deserving. I was just trying and failing to give y'all the perspective of one teenager. I really didnt intend to be the derivative of any board division. If God's will is Jacob ends up at Liberty, we will be EXTTEMELY blessed. If he ends up at another school, I am still rooting for the Flames! If something positive happens germane to a Liberty offer, I will come back to give you a full update. Today, he is visiting JMU and will get to know that coaching staff face to face after a few weeks of back/forth Twitter messaging.

I am really sorry if my posts did anything other than provide you an update/perspective. You have super coaches and they certainly know what they are doing. I can't say enough good thingss about them and I still won't give them the credit they deserve. Take care! Hope to see you soon.

Hooks, if you continue to hang around here (as we certainly hope you do) you will realize that was just BJ being BJ. He has a terminal case of foot in mouth disease, and occasionally someone like Medic has to set him straight. Trust me, you didn't do anything to cause it. Happens all the time.

You have nothing nothing to be sorry for my friend...if anything I should be the one apologizing to you. I meant no disrespect with my comments toward you o toward him. Im not exactly the most articulate person in the world (which is ironic given that Ive been in broadcasting for the last 10 years or so), so often times I say things that in retrospect are best left unsaid. I apologize to you and your son and wish you both the very best, and hope to see him rocking a Liberty hat on signing day 2016

Medic does try to set me straight when that sort of thing happens btw, but personally I prefer the way Jon does it since he at least has been around me in person so he knows I mean well.

I think Sly's theory that a couple of the other QBs we offered may have been "Hail Marys" is looking like it has some merit. One of them just committed to Boise State.

Sort of proves my point, alot of this is just posturing to say hey we were in the "hunt" for him too, but even tho we didnt pick him we still were "aware" of his talents. But I guess someone would tell me they offered him based on seeing him throw, LOL. I guess as that hailmary was knocked down in the endzone. Bottom line is I want to see ALL these kids do well, not just my own. Just have to be aware that from this point on its all business, at this juncture and you should treat it as such, and put feelings on the backburner. But, I could almost bet your bottom dollar they would'nt want to lose out on him if he was to go to JMU. LU I dont fathom would want to lose out on anybody or anything to JMU.

Coach Dailey coming to watch Jacob throw on May 6. Hopefully, there will be a much more clear picture of the future after that happens. Got my fingers crossed. 32 other schools will also be in attendance...I hope he doesn't throw the first ball in the dirt. LOL.

I will keep you guys updated. He did receive another offer from Davidson yesterday.

TBH, most of the times schools really don't care which other schools do offer UNLESS if affects them by that team being in the same conference, then the radars and flags go up, making sure that they havent missed out on a kid that is going to competing rival

So, if Coastal Carolina offers, that would get Liberty more interested? Coastal says Jacob right at the top of their board. They are supposed to be there May 6, too. He camped in Myrtle last summer. They have had some good communication with him in the past few days.

An offer from the beach chickens would definitely get our attention, but it really shouldn't come down to that.

Beach Chickens. That's hilarious! I gotta tell you, everybody has told us to enjoy the process. I can't wait until it's over. I actually had Northern Iowa coach ask me to bring him to camp. Seriously? I told him to offer him and we will find a way to visit the campus. But, 36 hour round trip without an offer won't happen. He says I just love his film but HC wants to see him in person. I think I am going to write a book on the process. Haha. Go Flames!

Hooks, the good thing is It appears you're son is going to get a free ride to college, which is fantastic. I'm sure the process is frustrating, but this is a once in a lifetime experience so try to enjoy it. Hope he gets the offer on the 6th.

Today is the day Jacob is throwing for over 20 D1 coaches, including Liberty QB coach Joe Daley. Coastal will be there too. As far as I can tell, he still hasn't been offered by any school he actually wants to attend. We probably missed a chance to land him early and make all this unnecessary, but I'm still hopeful he will be in a Flames Uniform in 2016.
