Fat Chance Grant comes to LU... he can be patient 3 years of cash and Billy D to pick up the phone for him.

Keep dreaming Flamers!
Completely agree. No chance that Anthony Grant comes here.

The more jobs start to open the less attractive Liberty becomes.....

ETSU
Charlotte

both more attractive, better history than LU.

Mason may open this week, etc. etc

candidates start to shrink as they look else where.

Did ya.ll hear that??????

I swear I just heard McKay's car buzzing by campus on 29 south headed to Charlotte to wait outside the 49ers AD office....

No doubt he will hitch the wagons and do his best to be the next coach of the 49ers.

I agree to some extent but like Gill, if he really is truly a guy that wants to practice his faith, it actually may make sense. I wouldn't summarily dismiss the idea at this point. I think the possibility exists. I think his initial reaction would be no thanks but taking it all in, the job would be way less stressful than those other jobs that would open, he would be getting paid well and would know without a doubt he could turn things in a positive direction due to the resources vs the other teams he would be competing with in the conference.

Out of curiosity, besides history what can ETSU bring to the table that Liberty can't? Southern conference was ranked 23 in RPI compared to the Big South at 25. This is not the same Southern Conference from a decade go-same argument goes with football. I'm still scratching my head how Wofford got a 12 seed, especially after only beating last place Furman by 3 in the Championship game. The same Furman team that Liberty beat earlier this year by 14. Their resume just wasn't that impressive this year for a seed that high

And that's the point. Both Grant and Gill were rising Stars in their respective coaching ranks. Neither panned out in their 'big move'. Both need image rehab. Viola...LU connection. Grant can come back to VA with his contacts, we can offer him more money and better facilities than the afore mentioned ETSU and UNC-C. He is still a 'big name' with lots of sizzle but maybe not as sizzly as before
How we are not on a plane outside his driveway tomorrow is beyond me.

That's the most ridiculous statement you've made Scar. Go back and read it. It sounds so arrogant to think Grant could just walk into the Vines and Big South and just win by blinking his eyes. Nice recruiting at Bama when he takes a Longwood player instead of Burger All American like SEC schools normally do.
The arrogance of some of you is really showing thru this search. and what would be his motivation to work hard for LU????? I see him being a Paul Hewitt failure.

Historically, the SoCon got passed last decade by the CAA and never recovered. As for the Wofford question, they beat NC State and Big South regular season champ Charleston Southern. Plus they also have decent wins over Iona (NIT first round) and Sam Houston State.

We've mentioned enough possible candidates to fill a field of 68. If Liberty Flames Nation wants some Web traffic, they should put out a mock bracket just to see who Liberty fans want for our next coach.

My Final Four would likely be Meyer, Jordan, Price, Lutz

I re-read what I said and I stand by it. All I said was that he would have a competitive advantage over others in the Big South. What's not true about that? I said he would be able to turn things in a positive direction right away. Is that not true? Things are pretty much in the wrong direction right now. Please explain the part that is ridiculous or arrogant? I have never been accused of either.

When we were seeking a coach in 07, I mentioned him as my "dream hire" but he was not really available at the time. I believe he is now. Anyone remember who it is? Hint: He has no college coaching experience.

Look at Sly trying to take credit for suggesting Avery Johnson. Here is where I brought him up on the second page of this thread, but it goes back another 8 years to the coaching search in 2007 when I said he would be a dream hire, but of course he was still coaching in the NBA then.
