There is zero, and I mean ZERO chance that Godwin went and did this infomercial without telling anyone and nobody from the university knew. That sort of thing just doesn't happen. He's the PROVOST of the university. All the latest statement is, is making sure the right (wrong) guy gets thrown under the bus and not Godwin.
People and organizations do stuff all the time that they just figure people won't really notice. When they get caught, they issue statements. If you look at the track record of the person in question here, it shouldn't surprise anyone...
Although...it appears that Reber and Godwin have their own connection - and perhaps that connection trumps the caution he should have had as a representative of Liberty University. So considering the person in question - it wouldn't surprise me if he DID act independently.
The latest update (a note from Godwin) says that he didn't talk to anyone before appearing on the show.
"Because of the urgency of the request and the assurances by Mr. Reber that he had been authorized since 2009 by Liberty University to sell Liberty University Institute of Biblical Studies courses via Benny Hinn Ministries, I agreed without hesitation to appear on the Benny Hinn TV show with the understanding that I would have the opportunity to confirm what I believed at that time to be true: That Liberty University does grant college credit for Institute of Biblical Studies courses successfully completed."
This statement suggests he did it on his own without really clearing it from anyone. It is also complete BS. He is the Provost! He has 5k employees under him! And he had to fly to LA to be on the Benny Hinn program! He makes it sound like he did not have the time or resources to check on this before it happened. The whole thing sounds like Godwin screwed up big time.
