And they don't have quite the same experience you do with zippers.

VAGolf wrote:Well, long story. My class got out at 4 and I had to take the bus from LU to my apartment (cornerstone). That bus ride took around an hour and by the time I got back it was almost 5. By then, there was already half an inch or so on the ground, and it was falling heavy, so I stayed here.

Around 5:15, my fiance (who lives in Richmond) texted me that it was already coming down pretty heavy there. If I could have gotten back here by 4 like usual, I probably would have tried it but that bus ride did me in.

Also, why do Lynchburg drivers feel the need to STOP in acceleration lanes? I see this all the time, even on great weather days. I just don't get it.
About half the onramps do not have a merge lane so you have to stop or get whacked if traffic is coming. It gets to be a habit so you do it even when there is a real merge lane. Bad setup.

Yes. And why do they build roads WITHOUT acceleration lanes (i.e. 29 "Lynchburg Expressway")?

My rule is if you're not from the north you don't pronounce Norfolk Narf(last part censored because it really does sound like most northerners pronounce it that way). 8)

I say Nor-Fick. My fiance' says Nor-****. In Nebraska, its "North Fork," (spelled Norfolk).

Has anyone been out today? Is it icy?

I'm thinking about making that drive to Richmond sometime after lunch.

If you guys know whether or not 460 is clear, that would be very helpful.

You should be fine after lunch. There are still some spots but they should melt by then

If I can get out to 460 I would love to go to the hockey game tonight. But maybe I should wait until tomorrow.

Officially ended up with 16.9 on the Ridge. Didn't quite do as well as Roanoke.

snowing again today.

wonder if we'll have another 100 car pileup on the turnpike today?

that spiced up the morning

here's a tip: if it's icy, don't do 75 in a pack of several thousand cars during rush hour

I'm hoping the worst of it Monday afternoon stays north of Charlotte because I have a layover. I have seen some models this evening listing Central Virginia with up to a foot.

It looks like the heaviest snows will be just north of richmond and up here in DC.

I wish I was still living in Tampa.

I missed the ice storm here in Houston while working over in Jacksonville where the highs yesterday barely reached 50. Back here in Houston, we are working back up to reasonable temps. It was 34 in the TL during my layover last night. Last week I was in Anchorage where they are experiencing a record-setting warm winter and it was warmer there than here in Texas today.

I don't see how you guys are going to get that much down there with this storm either. The NWS is calling for 4-8 here in DC which insane. 4 inches is pushing it.
