I can not stand Saban but to say the last 2 games of Alabama's season reflects poor coaching just sounds a whole lot like sour grapes. You claim he was interested and then when it was clear he wasn't you began the burial campaign Sly. The Sly hype machine working overtime I suppose.

gwebb Jimbo just signed an extension. He isn't leaving FSU

So you are starting the Gill to Texas rumor :flamingdevil

It looks like Strong. Yesterday my buddies in Austin said the selection committee had narrowed in on Strong & Franklin and the other candidates would begin publicly making statements once they were out of the picture. Half the equation has occurred so I would expect the other half to go down shortly.

Do not take the fact that Sumlin sits a hundred miles away out of the decision-making process that landed on these two coaches. Briles & Harbaugh were always my top two with Franklin & Strong on the next tier down with Fisher.

I get what you're saying and of course racism exists everywhere but come on man you know there is some truth to the southern stereotypes.

Well I know a southern mama who told her daughter she would be disowned if she brought home a black man.

Moral of the story: one person's experiences do not validate or disprove a stereotype of millions of people.

I'm with you. I've lived North and South and IMO race relations are much better around here than where I grew up. Not that they were bad but recently I had friends of both colors  that there were black AND white people living in my neighborhood

If you end up being my brother it don't matter if you're black or white.

I'm glad for Coach Strong. Hopefully he will be able to redeem Texas from the trash heap. 8)

(Now to let someone in Blacksburg know that "its time")

As do I. Point is that the stereotype always thrown on southerners is just as applicable to northern folks. It is a people problem, not southern.

My grandmother once said "they will grow out of it" when she found out my brother was dating someone that was not white and even cried when she found out they were getting married several years later and she was born and raised in Maine. So I am completely aware of the fact that racism in certain forms exists everywhere. During my own personal experiences I have seen it more in your face during my time in the south than my time in the north. Just my personal experience.

True story, happened in 1971 when I attended BJU. Being from the south I heard the same thing that was just posted about us Southerners.
In my dorm room was 5 of us, one from Toronto Canada, sophomore, the other 4 were freshmen, one from PA, one from Alabama, Georgia and me from Florida.
I noticed right away there were no black students on campus, never saw one the whole year and I asked why. Was told BJU would not admit single black students, only married one, never saw again any black students. I thought black churches would need black pastors, trained to get the gospel out.
So I asked my dorm roommates should black students be admitted to BJU to get a quality education and go out and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. We took a vote, 3-2 voted to allow black students.
The 3 votes were from the freshmen from Al, Ga and Fl. The two against were from the Canadian and the freshman from PA.

BTW when I transferred to LBC the next year, I was happy to see black students attending.

grew up in north my entire life. i agree. the north has always been more "tolerant" of other races hypocrytically as long as it not happening near where they live.

Mind you we just arrived in Lynchburg but I saw a lot more racism in my 32 years in California than I did here.

A lot of the racism was of the condescending kind from liberal minded folk. Things like, "oh you're a minority, how in the world did you ever find a job..." Etc.
