Yeah. Where I went to college we had a Vietnam Vet/former stoner on our team. He was 6-9 and in his 40's. I've also seen guys in their 30's but known were TG that I know of. I mean there were some rumors about SCAR......... Study

I legitimately do feel terrible for them. Let me ask this: If you are biologically/anatomically a male, yet mentally always "feel" like a woman (no Shania Twain references intended), can that be classified as a sort of mental illness?

It is in fact recognized as a mental illness. In the DSM-IV, which is the guide used by MH professionals to define and name disorders, it is known as Gender Identy Disorder (GID) or Gender Dysphoria (Dysphoria is similar to depression). Specific criteria need to be met to "qualify" for this diagnosis.

Not anymore. It has been removed in the DSM-V. But whether it is or it isn't, it won't get you a disability check (yes, I had a claimant list this as a reason why they could not work: DENIED).

Primarily as a result of pressure from the transgender community to remove it completely, they changed the name to Gender Dysphoria in the newest version of the DSM, with some minor changes to the criteria.

As you know well ATrain, having a disorder and being disabled are totally separate issues. In fact, the person we are discussing has a full-time job in addition to attending college and playing ball.

Not entirely totally separate. People are disabled because they have a disorder, but having a disorder does not make you disabled. However, I did deny them.
