While we are rewriting Gods word can we change the "coveting" stuff, and the "anyone who even looks at a woman with lust in his eye has already committed adultery" stuff also. They give me fits, so I know God had to have make a mistake on those two as well.

If you commit adultery, are you going to Hell? If you covet, are you going to Hell? Sin is sin. Humans have tried to justify sin forever. We are all sinners and fall short of the glory of God. Why would a gay person who is aChristian be treated differently then an alcoholic who is a Christian? Or an adulterer who is a Christian?

Differently by whom? Warren really botched his response, but that's nothing new for him.

If you commit adultery, are you going to Hell? ~ Only if I refuse to call it sin and do not repent.

If you covet, are you going to Hell? ~ Only if I refuse to call it sin and and reject forgiveness through Christ.

Why would a gay person who is a Christian be treated differently then an alcoholic who is a Christian? ~ He will not be.

But it would be so much easier if we could just override God and remove those sins from the list. Then I wouldn't have to deal with my "pride" and humble myself before Him so often?

Making us Christians doesn't make us perfect. Do you know anyone at your church who hasa quick temper and its just chalked up as 'that's the way they are?' He doesn't go so far as to say Homoseuality is OK but he does say that people will interpret the Bible differently then he does. He doesn't have to agree with it and we don't have to ostracize them for it. I certainly don't want to be ostracized for beliefs that may be different. There is a nugget of Christianity that is non negotiable. Jesus is the Son of God and only thru Him can we be saved. IMO, that and Love Your Neighbor as Yourself pretty much are the essentials. (unless of course you are consumed by self loathing, then skip that 2nd part :}

Greed. Because we can't define it.

Do you think you can lose your salvation? Are you saying that if I don't repent for each sin, I'm going to Hell?

Or are we covered by the Blood of Jesus for all sin we commit? I know that this opens another debate of truly being saved, but your comments seems more Catholic than Christian?

I'm a once saved always saved believer ..... but if I "commit and also refuse" to admit one of the above sins, am I saved? This free gift seems to have a few strings attached. Maybe we can change that also.

Thought this was pretty timely, from Ligon Duncon. I was going to quote a whole bunch, but it would have been too long. He uses perfectionism v. antinomianism to hash out his four main points, which are:
Believers are still sinners
Believers must, by the Spirit, strive against sin
Believers are no longer under the dominion of sin
Christian life is characterized by growth and holiness, but not perfection

Worth the read.

He would be a good one   ... if the new pope sticks to traditional Catholic teachings, do you think he will be labeled, "homophobe," & "right-wing zealot" like Rick is? Do you think the new pope should push to allow Priest to marry and have children? According to the article, many are leaving priest hood because they want a wife and family.

The first article was written 12 years ago ... I guess they haven't been unable to come up with a solution?

I think Catholicism has a lot of silly traditions that they pretend make sense. So I wouldn't stick to something just because it's traditional.

If they want to allow Priests to marry they are going to have to convene something similar to Vatican 2. Not saying it couldn't happen, just that it would be interesting if it did.
