I couldn't agree more with TDDance, especially with Sanders. I know his brother could ball, but legacy shouldn't earn you minutes. The kid has not shown anything this season. What is baffling to me is why he kept getting put in the game as soon as we would start to get something going. What is even more baffling is that we've heard good things about Larry Taylor and he gets put in with 5 seconds left, I do not get the philosophy with the guards one bit. Additionally, Marshall hit some good, tough shots tonight and he looked pretty good.
Jourdan continued to impress tonight. He looked really good at the first part of the game, but for some reason we got away from going to him in the 2nd half. In my opinion, we should have kept calling his number until someone showed they could stop him. This kid is looking like he is going to be something special.
Coronado looked good on the boards, but with the increased minutes tonight you could tell that he is not yet in game shape. He struggled to hold on to the ball and turned it over a good amount. Smith looked really good tonight. He played hard and had that nice dunk over the two Tribe defenders, not to mention solid defense and some good blocks. The kid has potential, he just needs to bulk up if h'e's going to be playing down there. Right now he's built almost like a big wing forward.
All in all, I couldn't help but think that this was a different team and that I am starting to feel good about Big South play coming. It was just going to be very difficult for us to maintain the level of play we did in the first half against a team like W&M. We have good pieces, and the dynamic should only get better with our team as the season progresses. I still don't like our offense, and I can't reiterate enough that Sanders does not deserve to be in the game as much as he is. The kid is frankly not helping us in the least. I don't think he should be starting or having the green light to penetrate as much as he is.
