Bolden Named Big South Special Teams Player of the Week
October 30, 2006
Lynchburg, Va.
Liberty University wide receiver Dominic Bolden has been named this week’s Big South Special Teams Player of the Week, honoring his return efforts against Coastal Carolina this past weekend.
Bolden (So., WR, Orlando, Fla.) returned a kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown midway through the fourth quarter in the Flames’ conference battle against the 22nd-ranked Chanticleers.
It marked the first time in two years that a Liberty player has returned a kickoff for a touchdown and the fourth time in league history. The last time that a Flame returned a kickoff for a score was on October 23, 2004, when Sam Gado returned a kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown on the same field against Coastal Carolina.
Bolden is the third Liberty player this year to be named Big South Special Teams Player of the Week as Wynton Jackson garnered the honor after the St. Paul’s game and Ben Beasley was named the league’s top special teams player after the Flames’ game at Towson.
Bolden and the Flames take a week off from Big South Conference action this weekend as they host Western Carolina on Saturday at William Stadium for a 1 p.m. contest.
