Catchy title huh??? I didnt feel like looking up the older thread about this...feel free to merge if you'd like Sly

So, Chancellor had a great announcement today that we can have concealed weapons. I'm not going to retype my FB thoughts so I'll just post the summary here (someone made a comment about 'now Psychos can have guns':

The Psychos already have guns....now us law abiding citizens (in this case rule abiding) have the opportunity as well...but legally. I've had my concealed for a few years now, but have stopped carrying it in my briefcase to abide by the rules.

Even when I did carry I never had the temptation to reach for my concealed weapon...even when I get heated with some of the students when they think they have the right to cross the street anywhere and right infront of cars! Now if I was a "crazy person, or psycho" and full of rage and someone made me upset, I'd go and find one and come back if I didnt already have it on me. If they do, the innocent bystanders will not have the same luxury to ask them to 'hold on' with whatever they are about to do so they can go get a gun and come back to save the day.

Great thoughts HMO. I'd like to give a shout out to my good friend Craig Storrs who was the one that made this happen. He originally drafted legislation (Fall '10) in the SGA that was passed but vetoed by Mark Hine without ever getting to JLFJR or the Board. He then drafted similar legislation in the spring that was killed in committee. Craig then worked all summer to create a policy that the powers that be felt would be acceptable to the Board. Although many have done work previously to attempt to get concealed carry on campus, this victory is Craig's and Craig's alone IMO. Without his TIRELESS efforts, this would not have gotten done.

You wouldn't see me carry, but after knowing there was a guy who brought a shotgun on campus looking for me, I'm completely in favor of this.

No, it wasn't beej.

I love this.

Its not the people that carry legally that you need to worry about, its the people that carry illegally.
