To have a great season ..... Need to make a good showing in Raleigh, then take Robert Morris serious this year, nail a break through win over James Madison, keep it close at Lehigh and maybe win it in a squeaker. Can not lose a BSC game .... period. Enter the playoffs ranked 5th-6th and win two rounds at home!

I like your thinking. Just don't know if this team can do that. There's a history of it happening too.

It hinges on O line and D line play. We have playmakers at the other positions. Winning the battle at the line of scrimmage consistently will determine our success or lack of it. I'd say we win 9-10 games as long as we don't turn the ball over and give away points (Steelers Crybaby )

Unfortunately, I think we start off 0-3. I think it will be respectable in all 3 games but I can't see us getting by NC State and JMU. Robert Morris is a toss-up but I don't think we'll win - count this as the loss that has us scratching our heads.

I think we'll lose to Coastal as well. We don't matchup well against them.

7-4, and I'll be pleasantly surprised if we're ahead of that mark.

I don't think we will lose four. I think we lose 2 NCSU and then either Lehigh, SBU, or CCU ( I feel like SBU is the most likely because road conference games are always tough). What I do know is that I would rather the team go into the playoffs with atleast 1 loss and not undefeated. I honestly would rather see a 10-1 or 9-2 LU team in the playoffs rather than an 11-0 because of the pressure of being undefeated and the target on our back. (I really don't see us beating NCSU anyway so I don't think 11-0 is a very real possiblity.)

I just don't see us losing anymore than 1 home game (dang you JMU). We really seem to be a different team at home.

Seeing how weak the oline/dline was and how it hasnt improved plus the same story with secondary w/ the TE's and the big plays i think Liberty will lose 4 Games. NC State. Lehigh, JMU, and Stony Brook :BS :? hate to say this and i hope they prove me wrong

To the guys who say we will lose , have you done any research into the teams we are playing to back up your assertions that we will lose 4 games or is it just based on some latent negativity that you have...Lehigh isnt the same team that pounded us in 2004...and so they won 10 games...the Patriot League is not that good, and Northern Iowa wasnt at the level they were last year that they have been (they were 2-3 and if not for their big winning streak would not have even MADE the playoffs)...the only teams that they played of note ran them off the field (New Hampshire, Delaware and Villanova), JMU we have hung with the last two years (even if they have had out number), and we arent gonna just get mowed down by NC State (we have always shown well against FBS teams under Coach Rocco)...

This post was made by Roccgroh who is currently on your ignore list.
That is probably my favorite post on this whole thread ;)

And I somehow forgot to include Robert Morris in my post -- that's a win. Closer than comfortable, but we win that one. If we lose to JMU, it will be a close one as well -- I don't think this team is going to get blown out this season unless we've got some injuries in key locations.

Okay, sorry BJ, we will go 11-0 next year!!! :D

lol...I dont necessarily think we will go 11-0, Im just saying that you should have a reason for believing we will go 7-4 and then research to back up your reason just like you should have a reason we will go 9-2 or 10-1 and do research to back that up as well

We've lost to Laffy and Robert Morris over the past few seasons. We're in no position to say any of the north eastern conferences aren't that good.
, and Northern Iowa wasnt at the level they were last year that they have been (they were 2-3 and if not for their big winning streak would not have even MADE the playoffs).
That's a ridiculous statement. They changed QB's during the year and it ignited the talent already on that team.

We're in no position to say we're going to certainly win any of our OOC games except for the DII. All of them will be some degree of a challenge. I think RMU will likely be a win for the revenge factor, Rocco uses that well with his teams. Other than that, I can see us winning or losing the other FCS OOC games, and I don't see us beating the 'Pack in Raleigh. And you can't expect people to believe that we won't lose in conference. We do it every season, why should we expect this year to be different? SBU on the road will be a tough test for us.

NCSU, JMU, Lehigh, and a random Big South loss would be 4, and that's certainly not out of the question for this season. So yes, I looked at the teams we are playing and yes, I think we could lose 4 games. I think 1-4 losses is pretty much what to expect from this team, the consistency of the way the team plays and the ability to show up and play as well as we can EVERY WEEK and minimizing mistakes will be the difference between 1 and 4 losses.

How about we just don't have the talent to compete with the upper echelon programs? We have proven that we can't hang with the JMU's and seem to lay down when we absolutely have to have a win (no need to point out the games here, they're obvious).

I think we've got the offense to hang with anyone, it's the defense that's shaky. We haven't been able to stop the run when it matters and our pass defense is still spotty at best. Sorry, just don't see where the help is coming from this year.
#339536
Maybe if this Butler kid comes to LU we will just put up 60 every game... our defense should be able to keep us in a game like that

Kidding aside I agree we'll go as far as our D will take us. Mike and Chris will be arguably the two best players at there position in the country and with all our running backs getting another year of experience along with the return of Aldreakis our offense should be one of, if not the best in the country. That being said he will have to stop because we all know no matter how good the offense is they will have an off game where they only put up 55

My vote: Stony Brook
We get y'all in the first BSC game of the season this year, a neat change on the schedule. Do we beat you? Probably not. Can we scare you into a second pair of Depends? Probable. Dickerson is already shaking things up a bit on campus...you aren't going to see our usual late October/early November crap-out this fall.

LU loses three by the way: NC State, either Lehigh or JMU, and one Big South game and I'll say it won't be SBU since you have a bye before that one correct?

Yeah, thats correct we do have a bye before that game but we also have to make the hike up to Long Island for it.
#339914
We will be flying to that game. The trip will be a lot shorter than bus trips to places like Coastal and Presby. I was not at all impressed by Stony Brook's crowd when we went there in 09.

I think we will get our BSC mojo back next year and run the table. We will give the Wolfpack a game, but probably fall short, and get at least a split with JMU and Lehigh, but I wouldn't put it past us to sweep our FCS schedule.

I hope this team is motivated by the auto-bid that got away last year. It's one thing to blame external factors for not getting into the playoffs, but it's another when you control your own destiny and mess it up. There are no excuses. I'm sure Rocco is doing a bit of both by harping on losing the game to Coastal AND the selection committee not picking them. The us vs the world mentality has to work at some point. I hope..
