Liberty University Director of Athletics Jeff Barber has announced the Athletics Department will make field hockey its 21st NCAA Division sponsored program, with competition slated to start in fall of 2011. Additionally, Liberty Athletics has tabbed former Richmond assistant Jodi Murphy as the program's inaugural head coach.

Fairly familiar with women's lax from first hand experience, unfortunately. Team had some good athletes but a lot of them didn't look to be much versed in the ways of lax.

Who cares how they do we just need them to satisfy title IX right? That way the football team can move on up.....

About the conference we're joining:
The team will compete as an independent program in 2011 and is slated to join the NorPac Conference in 2012. Started in 1982, the NorPac's current field hockey membership consists of: Appalachian State, Davidson, Longwood, Radford, Stanford, California-Berkeley, California-Davis and Pacific

A conference of convenience. See the Great West Conference in other sports for an example. Not many schools carry field hockey as a scholarship sport these days outside of the New England region. So sometimes you have create allegiances wherever you can find them.
