My wife and I live in the Forestside complex. The management, location and price ($415/month) are great, but the apartment is somewhat small. We have enough room for the two of us, but I couldn't imagine a family of four fitting in the one-bedroom apartment. You may want to check into the New London apartments. They are managed by the same company as Forestside, Tomlin and Associates, in the same area, and also have two-bedroom apartments for $475. The other apartment complex we've lived in is Maple Ridge on Reusens Road ... we didn't have an enjoyable experience, to say the least.

I think New London is right near where I live in Evington. It's a very small complex (only two units), very close to the country, and right on 460. It's near a trailor park, but that's really the only downside. Not sure how big they are.

I think there are some new ones going up on Timberlake that are very affordable, but I can't think of their names.

If the Greenbrier is on Rivermont Ave, that part of the Ave. is a very high crime area, I think.

Go check out Brownstone properties on Old Forest Rd. they have many neighborhoods available. I was actually approved for one on Leesville Rd. Today. so my move to Lynchburg is coming closer to completion. Now to find that job.

Langley Properties has a few good places. If you're got a family, Boonsboro Village is a great complex. They have townhomes there. There are also places that'll rent townhomes in Wyndhurst, and those are REALLY nice.

It may be more than you are looking for but... I live in Liberty Ridge. It is owned by LU but managed by a local realtor. It is just up the hill from LU. I pay 700 mo for a 1600 SF single level "town house". It also has a garage. One setback - only one designated bedroom. There is, however, a formal dining room, which has successfully been turned into a second bedroom.

I thought Id give this a bump up instead of starting a new topic but I am looking at moving out of my current place. I have two roommates already lined up (both also LU alums) and we are looking at places to move to. Ideally we are hoping to move into a place next weekend (or right around that time as I have a wedding to be at Aug 1 as I referenced in another discussion), Right now Im looking at Old Mill Townhomes, Walden Pond, WillowBrook Apartments among others.

Any recommendations would be appreciated. we're looking at right around $300 each although Im not averse to going around $325.

BJ, when I first moved to Lynchburg in the mid-1980s, Walden Pond was the best apartment complex in Lynchburg. Professors used to stay there until they found a house to buy. I've heard very good things about that complex, including good fishing.

Plus, it was named after Henry David Thoreau's residence, when he lived for 2 years, 2 months, & 2 days back in the 1840s.

BJ- i lived in willowbrook for part of my sophmore and junior years. it was very nice with a decent staff minus the one old lady from NY who didn't know what being nice meant. the rent was pretty good. we had a two bedroom. in the older side of the complex and it was very nice.

check out indigo run off mcconville road...they're nice town house that easily fit 3 and with all of our bills (cable/eletric/internet) it only turned out to be around $300 each for me and my 2 roomates.

The cheapest housing is the "apartments," which there are five. Small units, with one long communal hall to enter each residence. There is no covered parking. I think that they go for $575.

We live in one of the "town homes" which are larger (over 1200 sf + a garage). Our rent is $700.

Garbage collection is included, but all other utilities are on your own.

I lived in Waldon Pond for awhile and loved it. However, every Hindu in Lynchburg lived there. It's a bit of a shock to see while walking around.

Go to the Liberty Apartment Finder found here http://www.liberty.edu/studentaffairs/c ... m?PID=2204. Before my wife and I bought our house, $650 is the highest our rent was and it included all utilities. It is a great source for apartments and many of them are great deals in Lynchburg.
