That's the funniest thing I've read all day. I can't stop laughing!!!!!
Its true though...just not in the way he meant it. Yes, Title IX has helped many young women get a free quality education that wouldn't of otherwise, but when all you have to do is be able to swing a golf club to make a DI women's golf team there is something wrong with that.

Title IX had great intentions as did other equality legislation, but unfortunately its not always so cut in dry when it comes to how it effects DI athletics and how it has effected many talented, possible DI athletes.

With that said because we has Americans have such a hard time treating people equally its almost a necessary evil, same goes for affirmative action. Both of these pieces of legislation have huge flaws, but because Americans couldn't treat people equally to begin with they became needed..Just part of the sad history that this country has to overcome

That is what I meant, and I meant it even moreso. For many, both the quantity and quality of learning stand to be enhanced by athletic participation and opportunity. Title IX defends those opportunities for those who may participate in a less popular sport. If those of you who decry Title IX could ever selflessly look at sport as more than entertainment - as valuable for learning to those involved - you would understand its legislative value.

But I think we view Title IX differently. Because of the bad history we have giving minorities and women equality in this country policies like these were needed and sadly probably still are needed, BUT its too bad that in the process of trying to create equality it has taken away opportunities of others. It is flawed, as is most legislation in this country, but at the moment a necessary evil.

I just saw a FB album of some of students wearing WHITE at the LU game: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=lf# ... =509557408

So rebellion at LU is wearing WHITE at a football game? I just hope it's a temporary condition, and that they will be wearing RED in November for our last 2 home games.

Personal opinion.....3:30PM games and too many other activities to take the fans attention away from the games, swim meets, soccer games, hockey, plays, concerts. Make football and basketball the focal point of the day and surround the events with all the other happenings to get them out of their dorms. The Athletic Department is doing an excellent job on their part, now it's up to the students.
