As a Duke fan I'll have to admit I actually find all the jokes about Duke players now having a place to play as quite humorous. Although, the last time I checked Duke was at the top or toward the top of the list of schools with the most players currently in the NBA. Just sayin'...

Notice you did not say "in the NBA... and successful...." the second part is kind of important. Any college can send players to the NBA, but that doesn't meant they're any good. :D

Corey Maggette 20.3ppg
Carlos Boozer 19.3
Luol Deng 17.7
Elton Brand 13.7
Mike Dunleavy 12.3
Dahntay Jones 11.8
Grant Hill 11.3
JJ Redick 9.5
Chris Duhon 8.6 (plus Top 10 in the league in assists)
Shane Battier 8.4 (arguably the greatest defender in the history of mankind)

How many other teams can say they have 7 double digit scorers?

I'll take these schools' alumni over Duke's

UCLA has 14 active players in the NBA - including Russell Westbrook, Mbah Moute (one of the best defenders in the league), Kevin Love, Jrue Holiday, Jordan Farmar, Baron Davis, Matt Barnes, Darren Collison, Trevor Ariza, and Arron Afflalo

UConn has 13 in the league - notables are Ray Allen, Caron Butler, Rudy Gay, Ben Gordon, Richard Hamilton, Emeka Okafor, Hasheem Thabeet, and Charlie Villanueva

UNC 14 active - notables Vince Carter, Wayne Ellington, Raymond Felton, Hansbrough, Haywood, Jamison, Lawson, Stackhouse, Rasheed, Marvin Williams, Brandan Wright

What was your point? That Duke's white players in the NBA aren't successful?

Dunleavy, first of all, has had a successful career no matter his skin color. He's averaged around 16ppg during his healthy years in Indiana and is just now coming off a pretty serious injury and rounding back into shape. He's the best white American perimeter player in the country. Most of the good white guys in the NBA are post players (David Lee, Chris Kaman, Kevin Love.) On the perimeter, you basically only have contributors in Dunleavy, Mike Miller, Kirk Hinrich, Steve Blake, JJ Redick, Ryan Anderson, Chase Budinger, probably missing a few.

The fact of the matter is that there are only like 45 white guys in the entire Association. Don't feel like looking it up, but I imagine that at most 20 of those guys actually get decent playing time.

When you compare them to other white players in the league, Duke's guys have been very successful.

Which is odd, considering K tried to keep on the team for his senior year by saying he wasn't ready for pros and naming him team co-captain.

From Wikipedia:
Reverend R. L. White, president of the Atlanta chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), described the AABA as "ridiculous" and said "it attempts to set back what we've been trying to do for 100 years." White said he was worried that the all-white basketball league might set off racial tensions, and added, "If we can do anything to stop it, we will."

Ha...I don't think he understands that this would draw less fans than the WNBA..

Considering that Dunleavy averaged 6ppg and shot 40% from the floor his rookie year in the NBA.... I think K might have been right.

But you can't turn down a Top 5 pick, regardless of whether or not you are ready.
