If you want to talk ASUN smack or ramble ad nauseum about your favorite pro or major college teams, this is the place to let it rip.

A side note on this game is that early this season C of C lost to the Beach Chickens 70-59.
Carolina is the team I grew up with and will always pull for. Liberty is where I went to school.

For marginalizing your alma mater, you're dumb.

Despite his uncanny ability to beat Carolina...I would love to see Bobby back in the ACC....especially at the school that has his name on the court.

Yes SJ, yes Sly, and Yes JC. I grew up a HUGE VT fan. I still have VT stuff in my dorm room, but I would never pull for the Hokies in any sport over LU. Last year LU beat VT on a walk-off 3-run job and of course I sang bye bye bye to the Hokies as they walked off the field. I hate it when people do this stuff. There is a guy in the dorms that I live in who is a clemson fan, and he wore a CU shirt to the game. I wanted to kick him.
IT'S YOUR OWN SCHOOL WE'RE TALKING ABOUT :furious !

I knew that would be the reaction around here. I've been loyal to my teams since I was old enough to choose teams (around 4-5 years old). My teams are: Red Sox, Celtics, Redskins and Tar Heels. Those will never change. I went to LU and pull for the Flames but that doesn't change my loyalties. You can get upset about it and I understand where you're coming from. It is what it is.

Another reason I would pull for Carolina is because they're my favorite college program and they have a lot more to lose. They legitimately compete on the national stage in the major sports. Their national ranking and post-season seeding would be decreased with a loss to Liberty. While LU would have a lot to gain, it's not going to push them into a position to be nationally ranked. I wouldn't be upset if LU won, I'd just be pulling for the Heels.

Uncanny ability to beat Carolina? I heard this morning that he is well below .500 against UNC in his career. I can't remember the number, but he is far from being a Tarheel-killer.

To be fair, there are very few who can claim any success vs. the Holes.

Fine. Perhaps I should be more precise. I mean uncanny ability to beat Carolina at times when he has no business doing so.

My grades in high school weren't good enough to get into Carolina. Plus, my parents would only pay for me to go to a Christian college. I'm not knocking LU in any way. I know tons of people who are fans of schools they didn't go to. I know a girl who is a die hard Duke fan but went to NC State because she couldn't get into Duke. It didn't change her allegiance to Duke. She pulls for NC State now, but not when they play Duke.

I bleed blue & gold in support of the West Virginia Mountaineers. I remember exactly where I was when Jerod West hit his 24' shot at the buzzer to beat #2 Cincinnati in the 1998 NCAA's. I recall exactly where I was sitting & every word of Brent Musberger's call when Robert Walker ran it in from 19 yards out to beat Miami in 1993. I remember dancing in the hallways of a DC hotel when Ed Hill caught the winning TD in the corner of a Boston College end zone that same season to preserve a perfect 11-0 record. I still literally cry when I hear the 409-member "Pride of West Virginia" play "Simple Gifts" on Mountaineer Field at Milan Puskar Stadium.

But this past year, when Liberty traveled to Morgantoen to open their season against the Mountaineers, I wore read, I went to the Liberty tailgate, I sat in the Liberty section, I cheered my heart out for the Flames, and I was disappointed they lost. I'll always be a fan of West Virginia, but I am an ALUM of Liberty University.

GO FLAMES!!!

In this scenario, Liberty is the less attractive, easy girl that everyone gets with because she isn't picky?

AND the best you can get :P

Actually, it's the one you chose. I'm not sure I understand rooting for a school who wanted nothing to do with you, but that's just me. Either way in a week this thread will stall and a similar new one will appear in 6 months.

See you then.

Adam, you have the right to cheer for whatever school you want to. I'm not sure many on this board would say that LU was their first choice for schools.

My first and only, even when offered scholarships elsewhere.

LU was my first choice to, and I had a few different options out of high school, but I never took them seriously because I knew I was supposed to be and wanted to go to Lynchburg.

I had this discussion with a co-worker who went to Western Carolina and is not a grad student at Fayetteville State. I asked him who he would pull for if they played each other, and he said Western Carolina. He grew up a NC State fan, but will casually pull for them to win -- unless they're playing Western. And even then he said, he would be upset if Western lost that game. Same way with me, I grew up pulling for Carolina, but when they play Liberty, I pull for no one else but Liberty, and if Liberty loses, I will be upset, despite the Carolina win. If Carolina runs the table the rest of the way and wins the National Championship again, cool -- that's good for them, but I'm not longer a fan of anyone but LU.
