Defend his player from what, exactly?
An opposing fan telling him not to miss a free throw? The comment could have conceivably come from a UNC fan. He also would be telling Deon not to miss (or make, whatever you want to call it) a free throw.
It was a punk move on Roy's part. Being a product of a liberal arts education, I'm all for opening myself up to other points of view. But I really don't see how this isn't basically universal. You can still like Roy Williams and say that he overreacted in this one particular instance and handled the situation awfully.
