There are D3 teams better than Southern Virginia. They have 4 D3 teams in their next 6 games, I wouldn't be surprised if they lost in at least 3 of them if not all 4.

If you think so I guess. Clemson is always overrated. They are never truly a top 25 team.

You are also LU---so its hard for me to take you seriously. You haven't been good in your existence. It's just the way it is.

I can't be 100% sure you are wrong shuk, and these teams are probably horrible, but SVU's first 2 games:

SVU 86
VA Intermont 47

SVU 97
Penn State Monta Alta 49

We'll see how badly those other D3 teams beat them

Give us a little more credit than that...USC Upstate is a transitional D1 team (like PC).
:D

It will be interesting to see how you guys do against Clemson tonight though.

Yeah, I'm curious to see how the team responds tonight against a team like Clemson.

And to address the original topic of this thread, the Rock Hill paper today mentioned that Peele said he expects Corbin to return to the court next Monday against App State. He was WU's leading scorer and rebounder last year, so I have to think you'll see a better product on the floor when he returns.

While common opponents aren't always the best judge... Certainly going to be intersting to see how WU fairs in contrast to the Liberty game.

Without Corbin -- going to be tough to make this much of a game, but, certainly a measuring stick for how far (if at all) Winthrop has progressed since last year... And also perhaps gives us a better picture of the pecking order come conference play.

Well WU kept it to a 10 point game for most of the half but CU went on a late run to be up 18 at half.

If we are using this game as a barometer then WU will win the league and we are a good bit better than last year, just by the fact we are hitting open jumpers. Wu also handled the press well, the difference is the rebounds and free throws. WU has something like 20 fouls in the first half. Much better performance than the last couple of games and looking better offensively even with Corbin still out.

Can't accuse you of being a pessimist Realist. Somehow though, I don't think one half of decent shooting means Winthrop's woes in that area are solved. They certainly did handle the press better than we did early. With all those fouls though, I wouldn't be surprised if the final margin is in the area of 40.............same as us. If your guys keep it under 30 I will be somewhat impressed.

The margin is now 25 with 18:00 to play.

  Why did I expect any less? While UNCA has been unable to hit open jumpers so far this year (which is another matter) -- i dare venture that hitting an OPEN JUMPER is a fairly fundamental element to basketball... And as bad as the Big South has been so far -- it is not H.S -- and the good old boys from Rock Hill might need to do a tad more than that.

I guess the genius who thought we could predict the order of the Big South from tonight's game doesn't get a facetious statement, but I should have figured.

Anyways Oldflame looks like you are right, not playing well the second half, although we are still playing against the Clemson starters---you guys didn't make it nearly this far.

In all seriousness, I remember before Gregg left, you were never worried about him leaving because you felt that everything was in place to continue at the same level without him. Do you feel that's the case anymore? While no longer the favorites, you guys are in the discussion when it comes to a BSC championship, but you were beating or at least competing with the big boys 3 or 4 years ago. I think whatever advantage you guys had with your past success, doesn't exist anymore.
