We are what we thought we were.
At the beginning of the game Ohman was the only guy on the team that looked for a shot. By the end of the first half Minaya started to come around and then Carter. For the first 30 minutes Gordon and Perez looked like deer caught in headlights. They were scared. That's not unexpected. It was pretty loud in there. I think we saw Gordon grow up before our eyes last night. After he hit that 3 he calmed down and looked like he belonged out there.
We are in desperate need of scorers to step up with Ohman. I think those guys will be Minaya and Gordon. Carter looked good out there. He does well on the initial altercation of a shot, but more times than not last night they would miss the shot but be more physical than him to get the rebound. That was his biggest weakness. I was surprised he didn't even step behind the 3pt line more than once or twice. He was definitely better than Baker last night.
I like the way coach was doing the substitutions. Baker/Carter split all the time at the 5. Ohman at the 4 with Konan getting his minutes when he sat down. Minaya at the 3 with Anderson backing him up. Then a rotation of Jesse, Evan and Perez at the 1 and 2 spots.
Say what you want about Kyle but he played amazing last night. Shooting, driving, passing, hustling on defense, etc.
The best thing I saw in the team was their desire to compete and their toughness. They didn't crawl into a hole and die when we got down big. Sure we could be 1-5 in a week, but we're going to grow up fast.
