Are you just setting yourself up so you can come back and talk smack later? I mean everyone here is already laying 21+ to WVU, so it's really not necessary to pretend.
Nope, just telling the truth. Many of the locals are going to hate everything LU no matter what they do on the football field.
many as in 20%?? because from my time in lynchburg my guess would be that is about the amount that hates LU...then there is the 20% the love LU no matter what...and that would leave that 60% that could care less either way...those would be the people that LU would be trying for...yes, you are right that there will always be people that hate LU...but there are a whole lot more people out there without an opinion either way, you just don't hear much noise from those ones

I think it's awesome that the game will be televised in Lynchburg...my issue is that it isn't in NC...I keep telling my folks to move. :banghead

But I seriously like where I live, but when it comes to this game, urgg.

Serious question, do you think a blowout game (I consider a 21 point spread like you guys are saying is a blowout) against WVU will really help get more LU fans? Personally I generally don't like watching teams get blown out.

So you like watching your favorite team (or one of your favorite teams) get blown out? I don't really know of anyone that likes watching one of their favorite teams get blown out.

The issue is much of the population of greater Lynchburg being exposed to Liberty football, which will be competing at a very recognizable level. Blowout or not (I'll even go w/ your definition of 21+.), the televising of this game furthers and enhances regional exposure. This can only help. There is no forseeable outcome to this game which can have a negative effect on the program's exposure.

[where in the world did my original reply go??]

as far as increasing exposure, can't argue with that. as far as increasing the # of LU fans, increasing people's opinion of LU football, and etc., I'm on a wait and see approach. I don't really think just by having WVU on the schedule will do it (I don't buy what boils down to a "build it and they will come" approach), but if it's anything close to resembling a decently competitive game, then all bets are off...

I believe this game is going to be on 13.1, which is the same as 13 on the normal networks...however, 13.1 is HD...so I believe this game is going may be in HD, which is GREAT (I'm guessing that based on the fact that according to what I've read, Gameplan is in HD).

OK...if you live out of the area and don't have highspeed...you can buy a week pass for ESPN Gameplan from Dish or Direct TV for $24.99 I believe is the price, and this will get you the game. That gets you all kinds of games for the weekend (actually starting on Thursday). According to Dish, this package isn't available to be ordered until this comming Wed. So if you want to get your money's worth...call on Wed night, and order it for the week only.

To get Espn Gameplan for the year is something like $115. Hope this helps the TV people!

shuk, it's painfully obvious that you have no clue how Division I athletics work, especially the Division I level that everyone not in the upper tier of the BCS conference operates in.

I'm not even sure that would do it. Here's hoping. I'm really excited about this game being on WSET.
If it turns into a blowout, none of the locals are going to care anymore about LU football than they did before.
Dude. Stop hijacking our board. Seriously. Your negative nancy replies are sending so many posts hopefully off-topic.

The whole idea is to expose more people to LU football playing at a high level. Whether you like it or not that includes hanging with WVU for a time. If it ends up at a more the 21 point gap the goal of exposing folks to LU Football is still acomplished. NOONE expects us to beat WVU (except the players I hope), but if folks tune in and see us playing well, it will spark interest.

Where can we see LC Sports on TV again. Been looking all over.

My guarantee: Liberty will break the attendance record at Williams Stadium this year (again). How's that for the locals not caring?

We don't need TV to increase exposure of our athletics teams, that's what we use the NCAA and ODAC Tournaments for. We also webcast some of our games, so anyone with high speed internet can go online and watch some of our games for free. We don't need TV and neither does D3 as a whole.

I will go out on another limb and say we have an attendance beginning with a "2" at some point this year.

True. This is exactly why Hampden-Sydney College has such an impressive national following. If there were only one or two less sporting events available on the internet, I'm sure they would be even bigger, perhaps even a global draw. You would be able to stop anyone on city streets the world over and ask them what sports they cared about and it would be FIFA, the NFL and the ODAC in that order.

Well, Hampden-Sydney does pretty good on the field without having any tv or even local media coverage. Hampden-Sydney is doing just fine in D3 without TV coverage, just like all of the other top tiered D3 schools like Williams, Middlebury, Amherst, Cortland, Emory, TCNJ, Tufts, Messiah, etc.
