I updated facebook but I wanted to let you guys know that my procedure this morning was a success. The procedure was to insert a splint near my heart and lungs to prevent the blood clots from doing any more damage and possibly killing me instantly...I am still on bed rest and meds. No more contact sports for a while. My softball team just lost a pretty decent 1st baseman lol.

So sad to hear the news of your illness, but we're glad you're doing better. How much longer before you're 100%?

Well it is going to be a while before I am 100%. The best news I got last night is that I have a strong heart and lungs. I could have done damage to both in my condition. My exercise routine helped me even though the past 2 months have been a struggle particularly when my heart rate got high. I attributed this to asthma. My leg discomfort I attibuted this to a vericrose vein. Last Friday I was playing softball and was struggling to even get out to the outfield (normally I play 1st base but our big hitter hurt his quad so I volunteered to play outfield). I can remember being on second base and hoping the guy behind me made an out so I wouldn't have to run 2 bases because I had a headache and shortness of breath. These were all signs that I was not myself but it is easy to try to "play through the pain." That is not a good idea for me at this point. I will be on meds that will thin my blood which means no contact sports. I will have to guard against any head trauma and cuts as this could be potentially very dangerous.

Thanks again guys...I have been home for about 21 hours and I had a horrible night of sleep. I almost went back to the hospital but I didn't. My right leg that had the pain is not back to 100%. I am having trouble walking and will need to get the strength back. But I was surprised at how much it hurt still. I will have to monitor it today and I'll see if I need to go back. I gave myself the meds in my stomach today which is not easy to do for me but I have prayed hard for strength to do it. MRS SCAR isn't sleeping either because she spent the past 2 nights sitting in a hospital chair with me and then last night had to deal with my tossing and turning and obvious discomfort which of course made her very nervous. I was hoping to work from home today because I really don't want to use all of my PTO (personal time off) at work. I could work from home but it is really hard to concentrate right now. Plus now that I am comfortable I keep falling asleep. Thanks so much for the continued prayers guys (and girls).

Update is that I am home and feeling about 90% now. My leg still hurts but other than that I am good. I am not back at work yet but will work from home this week I think. The medicine is not working as well as it should so I have to keep giving myself the shots in the stomach and increase the other meds as well. Even with insurance this is going to be a little costly but I am not worried about that right now. All in all I am in good spirits. My mom, one of my brothers (officer Syd) and his wife and kids are here with me now too. Thanks for checking on me and for the continued prayers.
