I dont post threads about myself usually because that is rather self aggrandizing but I dont think Ive looked more forward to my birthday in a LONG time...

once you're 25 and can rent a car, I don't know why anybody would look forward to a birthday. And even that's not important enough to be happy about being 1 year closer to old.

You can rent a car at 21. Some places will charge some underage fee but no one is going to turn you down just because youre 22.

Back in the day, 25 or older was a hard and fast rule for renting a car, but they seem to have relaxed that somewhat. I think you will find it depends on the vendor and what kind of credit card you have.

I havent heard of someone getting turned down in the last two years because of their age(21-25) and with the car rental business slowing down it wont happen.

I did have to explain to someone that a person under 21 without a license cant rent a car. Apparently some genius decided he could rent a car with an ebrake in the middle so his 16 year old daughter could take her drivers test.

On a side note, if you ever rent a car some places are holding $400 over the expected rental amount on your card if its a debit card. Lots of customers have issues with that, especially when planning a vacation.
