I'm taking my dad to the Canes game on Saturday night for an early Father's Day gift. Hopefully the series is 1-1 when it heads back to Raleigh. If Carolina is down 0-2 that could be an awfully tough hole to climb out of.

Pens win 7-4, behind Malkin's hat trick. Pens leads series 2-0. Go PENS!

Don't write off the Canes just yet. They're down but not out yet. They rallied from an 0-2 deficit against Montreal in the first round of the playoffs back in 2006 on their way to winning the Stanley Cup. I know, I know that Montreal team wasn't as good as this Pittsburgh team by a long shot. I'm just saying the Canes are no strangers to overcoming playoff adversity.

The Canes looked tired and slower as the game went on. I hope that is a pattern that continues.

Pens win 6-2, leads series 3-0. As Don Meredith uses to sing, " Turn out the lights, the party is over."

Probably so, and although I'm really not a fan of any NHL team, as a former Pittsburgher, I hope so. Of course, compared with the NBA and MLB, coming from 3 games down in hockey is relatively commonplace.

Coming back from three games down maybe common place, but it will not be for the canes againist the pens. The teams the canes beat this year in the playoff did not have the offensive firepower that the Pens has. The Canes are beaten mentally, you could tell by listening to the Cane speaking to the reporter between the 2nd and 3rd period. Even the analysts said "Wow." The cane who was speaking was down in the mouth, had no answer how to stop the Pens.

GO PENS!

Regardless of what happens to the Canes in the next game, they were not supposed to be here and have made a great run. I hope they continue to wreck playoff predictions for years to come. I love Carolina hockey.

Well the Pens were not even in the playoff picture when they fired their coach and brought in the new guy, so that was also amazing. They had also lost a lot of their players from last year Stanley cup finals.

Pens sweep Canes, win game 4, 4 to 1. Now on to face either Detroit or Chicago. If Detroit it will be a good, tough series.
GO PENS!

What a game, what an ending, with a ton of shots and chances for the Wings, and Fluery shutting it down and the Pens holding on to win. Awesome game, great for hockey.

Malkin wins the Conn Smythe, Crosby the youngest captain to ever hoist the cup. The tradition of hockey blows all other sports out of the water. (Maybe exaggerating a little)

Im a Red WIngs fan but I say good on Pittsburgh for winning the Cup. THe young guys coming up into the league (Crosby, Malkin, Ovechkin, Kane, Abdelkader, etc.) Really give the league a shot in the arm and seeing the Penguins finally get it down with their two young stars I say is great for the league. Congrats Pittsburgh and you knwo Detroit will be contending again next year...

Watching that last save... pretty amazing. I knew it was crazy, but watching the slow-mo... he was down on his knees in the butterfly and had to get over to the other side of the net and dive out and put his body on the puck to save the win. Ridiculously clutch save.

Hah, not the best thing, but a really good thought for a guy like Miroslav Satan to think about while he drinks some booze out of the cup.

Congratulations Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Penguins!

Pittsburgh Pirates, your turn.

I think Detroit is breathing a sigh of relief now that the Red Wings lost. THere's no way the city could afford to pay for a victory parade.

I haven't followed hockey as much in the last few years, sure ill watch a game here or there but it just didn't have the same draw for me. I have to say though that watching the Cup Finals was a shot in the arm for the NHL. That series was entertaining and was some of the best hockey ive ever seen. Ive been to an NHL finals game when the Canes played the Red Wings and finally i think the atmosphere of the finals is back to where it hasn't been in quite sometime.
