She was six when Battier graduated. I highly doubt she knew much about him.

Well...I never had a favorite pro team. JJ Redick went to Orlando, and I started cheering for them...and the rest is history!
Wow you fail if you make where JJ goes your favorite team...you coulda at least followed a Duke player who is doing something in the NBA like Battier
I know a lot of people who really follow Redick. For Duke fans, I think JJ was one of the most popular players ever. I think he's on the verge of being a valuable NBA guy...so, I don't think it's that far fetched.

I only know the stuff I've read in Coach K's books.

all i know is Kobe is a beast, as much talk as people have about LBJ no player plays like Kobe. He had 15 points in the last 6 minutes of the game, whereas the rest of his team didn't even come close to that mark. People may say that LBJ carries his team more, but when it matters most Kobe carries his team, he just hasn't had to this season. Plus the fact that he says I want to guard the best player on the floor is just that much more for his resume

jerry west is an idiot! just saying, its a low blow to tell a guy on the team you played for that you think he is not the best player in the game. when night after night he proves why he is, i mean what LBJ had 40 in a loss so he is an amazing player?? isn't that what people were saying about Kobe when the Lake Show was losing a couple years ago and he was averaging 40 ppg. i think that a player who can take control of a game in the last few minutes is way better then a guy who scores 40 and loses

When the Logo speaks...people listen.

Your argument might hold weight if LBJ was just jacking up shots...he shot 20/30 and took control of the offense. The Lakers cast this year is wayy better than the Cavs. Put Lebron on the Lakers this year and it's not even close.

And he's conveniently forgetting how LeBron scored 25 straight points in the playoffs two years ago. Just look at last night, he put his team in the perfect position to win. He drew a foul to cause a 3-point play. Then drove and found the open guy for a knock down three. Then he did it again and the guy missed the three and there was a jump ball. Then, off the jump ball, he tipped it perfectly so his teammate could catch and shoot in one motion. Not only did he score over 40, he opened things up for his teammates who aren't nearly as good as Kobe's.

OK Steven A. Smith get out of Kobe's jock. he's talented, he's one of the best. but not THE best. and when JERRY WEST says LBJ is better.. that says it all. Kobe quits to make a statement to phil jackson or his teammates on occasion. Definitely not better than LBJ.

I'd also like to point out the talent around Kobe vs. the talent around LBJ. Kobe's teammates> LBJ's. and when that team with the lesser talent surrounding their star goes through and sweeps 2 series while Kobe's boys stuggle against a ming-less injury riddled team like the rockets? come on man. you can't tell me Kobe is the best in the game.

id like to point out that Kobe was dealing with the same thing a couple years ago as well... just cause his team got good doesn't mean he got worse

While Kobe dealt with the same stuff a couple of years ago, LeBron is doing more than he Kobe did with his crappy supporting cast.

Is it obvious yet that the NBA tries as hard as it can to rig the NBA playoffs?

and the Celtics in the second? a person would have to be a retarded fool to not realize that the Celtics are one of the biggest draws in the NBA right now.

"Tries as hard as it can."

They can't rig a team out of the playoffs when they shoot 60% and lights out from three.

It's a huge joke... time to watch the MLB.

Actually, it's XBox time. I know I'll have to hear about this game all night and all day tomorrow on ESPN so no need to watch it now. We're playing like garbage, and when it's 8 on 5 you can't do that.

and Turkoglu's wasn't? LeBron's form on his shot was the same as every other jump shot, Turkoglu altered his shot and double pumped to get it off.

We've never had a chance to cry. When is the last time we had something to cry about? We got owned by the Pistons for like 10 straight years, and we finally put together a team that can advance in the playoffs.

Also, the refs are being ridiculous. But it's a constant in the NBA so I guess I have to get used to it.
