I don't think that's the issue. It's more about basketball. Barnes was a McKay/Soucie recruit and Layer has his own ideas of what he wants.

That was my thought. We're overloaded on the wings...my guess is Layer is going after a big man of some sort.

#1 -- football signing day is in february, and the HS season ends in november / december -- giving schools plenty of time to do the recruiting thing. They're done seeing the players and have a few months to evaluate. Basketball season ends like a month before the spring signing period. Schools may be making decisions awfully close to decision day... like you speculated.

#2 -- Does football signing day last for a month like basketball? Is that how it works?

#3 -- There's probably more turnover in football, versus basketball. And I'm guessing, here -- but in basketball you're far more likely to maintain a team (unless they get word that they'll get free mani-pedi's if they transfer to Duke)... in football (and I'm guessing), there are more players leaving / getting cut -- all that to say, it's easier to find an available scholly in football than in basketball.

Man, I'm hoping to hear some news soon. I know it's almost a month til the end of the signing period, but between the post padding emoticons and the silly rabbit trails it's getting pretty dull around here.

Cider, your comment was very, very inappropriate. The UNCA fan is 100% justified in taking offense. I was really taken aback when I read it. I actually had to read it several times to make sure that I was reading what I thought I was and not mistaking the content. Wow man??????

I don't condone the comment at all. however i find it funny that all the Big south fans came out of the woodwork to get onto cider. You guys ever heard some of your fans comments made about our deceased chancellor? BYD is right he's not dead. its unfortunate what happened but he's not dead. just food for thought.

I agree, but I don't think Austin would be leaving for basketball reasons.

Could be Bill, maybe he met with Dale and wasn't feeling like he would still fit in... not sure.
