Come on. That sounds dramatic and all but it doesn't really mean anything. Progress to what? How is a bunch of people who don't matter, vibrantly discussing LU gonna do anything? That's pretty much us. And we're not really changing the world here. Except for me of course. I make things happen.

Wow! Take it easy, fellas. That would be to Liberty's everlasting embarrassment if they ban websites for being even semi-critical. But the potential that it might be banned is an insufficient rationale for not reading it in the first place, or for writing it off.


My problem with the ski slope is that it makes LU look like a summer camp. Perhaps there's nothing wrong with it. I just think that when your academics aren't what they could be, and you have one of the highest admission percentages in the country, you could allocate that money to something, say, academic.

And I think you need to pay attention to what's been said by Jerry Jr and the administration in regards to academics and the ski slope.

You also need to learn some Liberty history to know how websites like yours have been over the years.

Also, I don't even know what your last sentence means. How many websites there have been? Doing a simple Google search, there's not much out there by students or alumni. So a blog, unshackled from Liberty's administration, reporting on the news is essential. Do you disagree? If so, perhaps we can have a calm discussion about it.

Yeah. You totally don't know history.

There's a REASON why there are no sites like yours giving the 'behind the scenes' look at Liberty. Go do a google search for 'the truth at LU'. (actually, that one is still up -- and hasn't been updated in over six years)

FlameFans -- dating back to its predecessor at proboards -- took a while to take off because everyone thought it was inevitable that this site was going to be banned by Liberty.

The reason why FlameFans is successful is because it's an open forum, and that people are able to clear the record when there is a problem. Falwell has posted on here. Coaches have posted on here. It's not supposed to be a 'look at the misappropriation of funds that Liberty is guilty of' board. And I'm not saying that's your modus operandi -- I'm just saying you tread on thin ice.

Given that history, we should be just fine. For our blog is not dedicated to misappropriation of funds either. But we're not going to shy away from criticism. Many people seem to think that labeling something "negative" is a legitimate reason to write it off. Of course, it's not. And the arguments and points must be met and debated on their merits. And that's the point of our blog. It's a free-speech zone--something that's unfortunately lacking at many evangelical institutions.

Thanks for the cite to "the truth at LU." I'll check it out.

I just can't stand stupid people who don't even read the newspaper. If you did, you would've seen articles where Jerry Jr specifically talked about admission standards and academics.

I'm sure some of you are intelligent enough to know this, but the ski slope was totally a random donation thing. They didn't donate general dollars, they donated the ski slope. I'm sure the administration would have rather had a new academic building, but you don't look a gift horse in the mouth, as they say.

I was looking for more on Brolin but since I had to read through all this other mess I wam going to put my .02 cents in. I love the simple fact that the people that criticize LU and other people that comment or make decision at the school can not take criticism from others on what they say. Call me silly but if you cant take the criticism then dont dish it out.
