We would be. I have no problem with that if he were to come here and build this program to the top of the conference, and after at least 5 years leaves, while we are still on the rise, to become a head coach at a lower BCS school.

Assume that we are. If we're to hire a coach without ambition we may as well not hire one at all.

Exactly... it's not the fact that Ritchie left after two years... it's how he acted/what he said before he left, where he left to, what big events happened before he left, etc. Odom would probably bolt as soon as he good a good enough offer, and I think we'd be somewhat okay with that.

However, there is a chance we could find a guy who would stick and stay, that would just be difficult, and not something we should hire for. It should just be a bonus if we get it.

We build a clause into his contract, "if you leave within 5 years of being hired, you have to pay us lots of money"

This will cause him to build for five years, but also remain motivated and aspire to move up in the coaching ranks

Or to go somewhere else where they're not going to put that clause in the contract. Liberty just doesn't have the juice to put those kind of restrictions in yet.

It would take a tremendous level of success at LU for a guy like Ryan Odom, in his first HC job, to get an offer from a BCS level school in less than 5 years. As far as a big time assistant position is concerned.................... that's what he has now, and he would have to leave it to take our job if it were offered.

I just dont agree....you cant tell me that Carry Green's, Tolsma's and others dont have ambition. You can find someone with the ambition to make Liberty compete at the national level. I much rather have Soucie or DL but that's just me
