From another board:

"One of the main "inside posters" at Cats Pause reporting late tonight that Billy Donovan is set to take the UK job, VCU's Anthony Grant will take the Gator job. Both have the same agent, it will unfold in smooth fashion.

The man is legit if you've read Cats Pause any at all. If it was anybody but this guy I'd also be skeptical. But this fella is "close" to the situation and I'd say it's 90% Billy goes to kentucky.

Not some big secret, he posted at 2.45 AM today after hearing this from multiple sources of his. Billy Clyde paid "hush money" to leave, Billy D soon to be announced as UK head coach. UK can't afford a PR mess, I'd say this has been lined up for a while now.

BD will take the KU job until he realizes what he's done and he'll ask for his old job back. However, the UF people will realize they got a better hire in Anthony Grant.

not going to blow up, it's an easy mistake for non-uk fans to make! but yes all indications are billy donovan is going to be the next head coach of kentucky, which is why anthony grant hasn't taken the alabama job yet. varying reports tell that donovan was asctually in Lexington yesterday, and there is a 100% accurate report out there that has traced a flight, to go out today, from the airport UF uses that goes from gainesville to lexington. could just be mere coincidence, but it's a pretty crazy coincidence if you ask me...

there might not be anything officially announced today as to who the new UK coach is and where grant goes, but grant was apparently given until today to make a decision on the alabama job. if he turns it down it's VERY telling of what's going to happen with donovan...

So the latest info is that there won't be a press conference to announce Gillispie's departure, just a press release issued, but UK has put the media on alert for a press conference later today. Could it perhaps be to announce who the coach is, or is the info on the announcement of Gillespie's departure incorrect? And the circus continues...

In referencce to the article RTF posted

"Gillispie turned out to numerous social events drunk—the Kentucky Derby, Keenland Race Track, and the Ryder Cup." That is true

"Worst of all, players learned to hate their coach. A reported six of them went to Barnhart with the ultimatum that if Gillispie wasn’t fired, they’d leave." That is 100% false.

UK President Lee Todd has more to do with this firing than anyone else. He is absolutely furious of the public image that Gillispie has developed, especially this year with his treatment of Jeanine Edwards and his arrogance towards the media in general. He is furious that Gillispie refuses to basically butter up and develop relationships with the "right people," which I assume means the boosters.

Gillispie really has no one to blame here but himself and was simply a terrible fit for UK. He hasn't done a good job coaching here in the first place and he comes off as a complete jerk to the media (and the media has made him pay for it). When Jerry Tipton interviewed him and brought up how he was a public figure, BG said "that's not in my job description" and the AD said he simply disagreed and the UK Pres. sure as heck disagrees as well.

He had his chance to save his job. He had to meet with the AD and UK Pres. on Friday. They told him he could keep his job if he would agree to sign his contract and be an ambassador instead of simply just a coach, BG said no thanksd and that sealed the deal that he would no longer be the coach. You can say it's a bad decision to fire a guy after two seasons, but BG was given the chance to save his job and he didn't want to do it, so he has no one to blame but himself.

If you are teh UK coach, you can't just be the coach. Apparently he was not informed of that when he was hired, and that blame falls solely on the shoulders of the Ad and to a lesser extent the President. The AD basically knows that if the next hire isn't a grand slam of a hire that his butt is going to be on the hot seat faster than he can say "Kentucky." He made a terrible decision the first time around by making himself a one-man hiring and search committee. He ended up panicking after Donovan turned him down and ended up rushing the decision by going after someone he knew for sure would take the job. He clearly never did his homework on Gillispie because if he had, he would have realized that the off-court issues he has now were already occurring when he was at UTEP and A&M. If he screws it up again it's guaranteed he won't have a job at UK anymore either.

Do you honestly think any of that would have made a lick of difference to "Blue Nation" if the Wildcats were on their way to a regional final right now?

Maybe to you, and I respect that, but the facts are it IS almost totally about wins and losses. The only thing mentioned that might have carried any real weight is the possibility of a "player revolt". As far as the drinking, womanizing and general misbehavior is concerned, as long as he avoided being arrested, I don't think it would have mattered.

I hope Billy D doesnt leave, he has been great in Florida and i think will stay since leaving was most practical when he could have gone to Orlando

I agree oldflame. Gillispie is winning, but not winning nearly enough for UK fans and him acting like an jerk has pushed boosters over the top. They'd allow it if he could get them to the Final 4, but only getting to the NIT allows his behavior to be the best excuse in order to fire him.

I wouldnt touch this job with a 10 foot pole...but there are many in the coaching profession that want to see if they can meet the unrealistic expectations of the UK fans

The UK coaching job and the first choice in the NFL draft have reached a similar status. You would think everyone would want them, but they both come with so much baggage it's hard to give them away.

Apparently Gillispie is meeting with the AD, the PResident, and another unknown person to finalize the details on his agreement to leave...
