Well, Seth putting out feelers, and someone coming to Seth and stealing him are too different things.

I'm not sayin Seth didn't talk. I'm just saying that Seth Greenburg wasnt calling him up on his own offering him a scholly that he was ready to accept.

Seth's not dumb, but he's not being cheated, either.

All depends...both could be potential violations of the rules. Regardless of who put out the feelers, if discussions were had prior to Curry being released by the Flames....they could be in violation of NCAA rules against tampering with other schools' players.

I guess, but you have to admit if Seth initiated that it's less "dirty" or "funny business"...

That's really all I am saying. I am simply saying that Seth didn't decide to leave because one team said "Come here and play" and he said yes.

Legal or not...a player is simply not going to ask for a release without having a VERY GOOD idea of where he is going.

TBGBG was only a day ahead (perhaps a prophet?) b/c Curry (the right one this time) was on PTI tonight

Here's where it gets tricky though - Dell Curry is "friends" or "colleagues" with all of these coaches. He played with Sidney Lowe in Charlotte. I don't know his exact connection to the Duke staff but I'm sure there is one. There's probably a professional connection with every staff in the ACC. All he has to do is say Seth is looking at leaving Liberty and wait and see what the reaction of that coach is. It happens all the time, even down to high school sports.

Dell and Jay Bilas work together with some Charity. There's a Duke connection for ya, I'm sure.

Of the four ACC schools in North Carolina (per Andy Katz article today)...

It appears that Curry to Duke seems to be gaining the most steam.

I just can't see him getting any playing time there.

Duke would certainly bring about a 180 degree change in coaching style...and language. I sure hope Seth is not offended by F-bombs.

I watched JJ play alot...and I'm really trying to rack my brain and figure out if he can be that type of player....remember JJ was also considered only a pure shooter at first. Seth does have a quick release to let it fly....I just dont know though...

I would be less offended though...I mean it's not like one of McKay's boys quit and started working at Sam's...he transferred to an ACC powerhouse...it could be far worse

If it is Duke, then he can forget about getting any well wishes.

Sly Fox wrote:I admit that I am impressed with Publicist's restraint.

Having had several conversations with folks in the know the past 24 hours I feel not only better about this change but also better about this coming season. We may have another shocker before the next season and this one I believe you would all love. But let's not put the cart in front of the horse.
Now that is Sly Fox at his cryptic best. Is "shocker" a reference to Wichita State or just an indication that this potential good news will be just as much of a surprise as Seth leaving? "Cart before the horse?" I'm clueless.

Orupke is not out of the question, since he did not play at 3 Rivers CC this year although he was on their roster. He has no legal ties to WS at this point, and is in effect a "free agent". I have no idea what his status is with the NCAA clearinghouse.

My first thought was that some Texas "home-style" academic flexibility might enable the future to become now next year. Just a crazy theory.

Help me out here, guys. Sly loves to give clues regarding school's mascots. How many schools--especially in Texas--have horse-type mascots (i.e., mustangs, etc.)?

SMU's teams are the mustangs. Oklahoma has a wagon drawn by horses.

Problem is, any player transfering in won't help next year, unless it's a JUCO.

PLEASE LISTEN TO ME WHEN I SAY THIS: You are reading way to much into what he's trying to convey...yes it would be great news but I'm aware of what he's talking about and I saw no hints whatsoever in his statement!

Also let me say this...If baby judas goes to Duke then he better flip the switch in practice b/c his lack luster hustle wont cut it with coach K...that's for sure

One thing that I dont think anyone has mentioned in this whole scene will end up being the most important. I firmly believe that Seth's chances in the NBA (regardless of what he does at whatever college he ends up at) will hinge on how well Stephen does. Stephen has been as good as you can be in college and their's nothing Seth can do that Stephen hasn't already done unless he goes to a Duke and leads them to a National title, dont see that happening, but thats my take. I think if Stephen goes in and does well in the NBA then Seth will get a look, if he bombs out or is inconsistent, Seth will not be a 1st rd pick no matter what his stats say in college

My first thought on this, was that would be awesome, but he definitely needs another year to develop.

My opinion on this: Let him "graduate" in December, get him in here in January to grey shirt. He can practice but not play til the next year. He'll develop more that way than playing home school ball.

I'm not disagreeing with you SJ, but after seeing Jesse, I don't think we should be worried about the level of competition he's going up against.

No! That's my point, I highly doubt any of us have been able to watch him to much other then the youtube clips but I dont think that's enough for me to judge and say he's not ready...that extra time is close to having an redshirt year without actually taking it

But at that age, another year for your body to mature is huge. Again, I hope I'm wrong. I really, really do.
