If you want to talk ASUN smack or ramble ad nauseum about your favorite pro or major college teams, this is the place to let it rip.

Unless something happens with South Carolina's scholarship situation, Curry won't become a Gamecock. As of right now, 9 scholarship players are returning with 3 freshmen and 1 juco coming in next year. Although, that could change because from what I've heard, Devan Downey is seriously considering going pro. I don't think he will, but it is a possibility.

I haven't commented on here about Curry transferring out since I'm a WU guy, but this situation just stinks for you guys. I have no doubt that your basketball team will be ok (I'm even of the opinion that "addition by subtraction" may even be better than a lot of people realize). However, I do feel badly that Curry and his family used you and your university for the sole reason of furthering his professional basketball career. It will be interesting to see if he can back up his words in a different conference though.

I'm telling you, he's going to Wichita State to play for Gregg Marshall.

The worst part is that it now feels to me as if they planned this from day one.
If so:
a. that is just wrong to the program and Coach McKay. He was fully dedicated to the kid and gave him a shot when very few offers were on the table. This is like thanks for the faith in me, now bye. It's all about him and nothing about LU or the team.

b. Stupid decision. This is what Fork Union, Hargrave, Oak Hill, Etc. are for. Then he still has four years at his more prolific school.

c. it makes his statement even worse. Then we were not only the stepping stone, we were the way to get back at these other schools instead of sticking his success here in their face.

Could be, and I guess that would give two Big South schools valid reasons for not liking the Shockers.

Although, now that Marshall is not at WU, I really don't care how well he does. Don't get me wrong, I like him and greatly appreciate what he did for Winthrop. I wished him well when he left and don't hold any grudges, but I don't feel the need to have to pull for any other school that he's at (unless he one day becomes the coach of UNC or USC).

I saw someone say Coach has to be stewing....he's not at all...very good spirits and glad to have players that want to be here.

[this is coming from my opinion and not us talking yesterday] I'm sure it hurt more then anything because a lot of time and efforts were spent with Curry and the family but RM has been there and done that.

Keep in mind....this isnt the biggest job RM has ever had, he's been in programs where basketball is their life a it's strictly a business so you have to believe these things do not hit him off guard.

If you think this staff has placed their job security in the hands of a kid who was 17 and turned 18 during the year then you are sadly mistaken...no coach who has been at the levels of RM would do that

HMO have you lost any objectivity or is it just defend and attack for protectionism. We just finished third in a very weak BSC. In the last seven games we went 3-4 losing by 104pts (26 pt ave). 2 were at HOME, 1 on a nuetral floor and 1 on the road. Year 1 we lose 7 of the last 11 with a 2-4 record at crunch time with arguable the best pt g, post and 2009 preseason poy. Then we lose 2 of our much ballyhooed freshmen including the leading freshmen scorer in history. Year one we lose a very good BJ Jenkins and blame the previous staff. These are 3 players who started in 94 out of 100 games. But if we differ from your rose colored glasses perspective we get BANNED.
You talk of lifers yet when a first year AD comes in and with less then ethical means undermines lifers we just call it "business". The baseball staff were all alumni who just completed the best 3yr run in LU history. Finishing runner up to a great CCU team. Loyalty to your own?? Family?? And of course we won't talk about BSC finishes in basketball because 2-1-2-3 in 5 years wasn't progress from MH's disaster. There are those of us who love Liberty University and vehemently disagree with the lets always spin this for the positive and cast negatives on those who would dare expose flaws. Seth Curry, Brolin Floyd and BJ Jenkins transfers are to the roster what a 37 pt VMI whipping was to our mental psyche when it was a huge game. And like all the spin of yeah that was good and "they won't want to play us in a week"...wrong again VMI thrashed us on a nuertral site.
